I doubt neither one of us has the time for the following contest: Who can document the most lies by the U.S. media by political affilliation?

If you took on the Republican biased side of the media, you would have your hands full documenting their misrepresentations, etc. If I were to take on the Democratic side of the media I, and an army of like-minded people would be overwhelmed by the volume of their lies, manipulations, and misrepresentations.

After all, we should provide our source of information, the media technique employed, and the apparent purpose of the misrepresentation for this contest to have any real meaning.

This idea is probably moot anyway, as it seems there are many posters in the politics section that either have media or political-related jobs.

A question comes to mind: Is the media actually being manipulated by a small group of influential people? Is much of the “news” the media simply regurgitates off the AP Wire? Or what a political party wants the narrative to be, for that matter?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I believe that is a false equivalency from practical experience. Any time, a non right wing media outlet gets anything wrong, it has to issue retractions and apologies but right wing media outlets regularly make stuff up (see Breitbart, GatewayPundit, ZeroHedge etc) and NEVER EVER they apologize for it, they don't even delete their lies after getting caught. It's the same for right vs left politicians, Obama lied a few times and he was forced to go on national TV to apologize, Trump lies every day with zero consequences while attacking those who caught him lying.
