If you dont have a facebook profile, there are many employers nowadays that are going to think there is something wrong with you, or that you are hiding something. Although today its still accepted by that its ok to not have a facebook profile, maybe in 5 or 10 years, it will be unacceptable. You will be looked at the same way we look at people that live in the mountains without TV, electricity or the other comforts of life. Yeah, maybe its ok to live that way, but dont expect anyone to give you a job or that it will be easy to integrate back into the world should you get tired of living that way.

Learn to trade .. you don't need an employer or facebook.In this world today you either take complete control of your life or it takes complete control of you

A little fishy, I doubt those not wanting a facebook account all were the same ones not wanting a cellphone - I had my 1st cellphone as soon as I could, slightly over 15 y ago, yet don't intend to get a facebook account. As of not beeing on facebook sending a wrong impression on beeing too secretive, discretion is actually a quality apreciated in many circles .

Its not like having a cell phone??? What ever this guy is talking about just take it and throw it out the window, he has no clue what he saying. You cannot compare a cell phone to having a facebook account....

As for something being wrong with a person who doesnt have a facebook account to me is idiotic, its just absouletly foolish to think like that...

Why does not having a facebook page mean you are hiding something, I need a really clear answer on that first....and since when do you need a facebook page to get a job, who is coming up with this nonsense????

If anything most people on facebook today hide their accounts from outside people, meaning the only people who get to view their page are the selected few that they allow.......

facebook is a trend, how anyone can think having a facebook page is the thing of the future doesnt know much....facebook will lose its hype just like everything else in social networking thats hot now and not hot the next.

Why anyone would want hundreds of other people knowing when they are going to a movie, taking a vacation, or about to take a dump is beyond me. I deleted my acct last summer and have never looked back, good riddance !!!

My local newspaper's online content now requires anyone who wants to comment on an article to link your FB account to the site and then when you comment your are actually doing it under your FB account so it isn't anonymous any more. So no more hateful or racist comments which makes it not very entertaining to read but even people that once posted insightful comments no longer post.

I know a bunch of people who's employers forbid them to even have a FB accounts; teachers, a couple federal employees... I guess you can always have a dummy account with an alias to stalk people or find deals. I also know a few people that have ruined friendships and made family situations very uncomfortable because of FB. All you have to do is type in facebook and link it to news in any search engine, you will find more cons than pros when it comes to news relating to facebook and the people that are it....

Eh, I'll tell you why a cell phone is a vital tool, and facebook is just another decaying social media app like MySpace... because even back in the 70's (assuming you had a TV), it was super-cool to see Capt Kirk, Spock, and McCoy using a Communicator:

Everyone who saw that wished they could have one, and wondered if it would ever be invented in their lifetimes. No one, absolutely no one, wanted to see Capt Kirk hunched over a computer keyboard trying to look at thumbnail photos of women he remembered as hot back in high school.

To me, that's the most depressing aspect of Facebook... all the hot girls from high school got really un-hot so freakin' fast. Speaking about TV, I was channel surfing last night, and stopped at Trump's Celebrity Apprentice for about 5 minutes and saw a 40-year Debbie Gibson sucking up to Trump, and that, too, was depressing.

How sad... especially when you consider the calorie counting, the personal grooming, and cosmetic injections she needs to go through just to achieve that... she's got thicker lips now than she has when she was 18.

As for me, I deliberately post disinformation on my bogus Facebook page. That way I can get all the $2 off coupons from Dominos Pizza that I want, and the interwebs think I am an Obama-lovin' lezbo activist who is really interested in the "reproductive rights" of lesbian couples. Plus I auto-clear my cookies and use multiple browsers so they can't even data mine my real interests.
