YM Traders

the thing is, what do u consider a trend......show me a 15 pt s move and i can usually show u a nice clean trend....on the 1 or 2 min chart....consistently capture a certain # of points.....then up the contracts........don't try to impress yourself with the home runs.....................homerun trading is recipe for disaster........or we can go to the 15 min chart and probably on e bar move which of course no trend......as far as NQ....it doesn't move enough.......only the ym is hot emini mover.....tricky, but hot......being up 50 is good if u can capture positive points with a high percentage........otherwise emotions will take u out as a result of the losses.....and ur not knowing when but knowing today u r going to lose more than ur emotions can handle.........unless u r new to this and then it is just a matter of time...........trust me, a matter of time.........

The Excel sheet I posted was actually for emini-s&P500, NOT YM. I am sorry about this honest mistake. 70 point gain in S&P 500 is actually big.

Porgie:
I am NOT trying to impress you or anybody else. That is the least of my concerns. I have been trading this for 1 year. But have been watching and following it from long before.

Actually, I am trying to move into program trading. I already have a MATLAB driven IB API AUTOMATED TRading system which is trading for me . My background is Control Systems/Signal Processing and an MBA from Best School in finance in US(Chicago)

I know what I am doing. I am NOT a pure chartist.

Here is the plot of the DEC 2005 Emini ES..sorry I know this is YM thread, But I dont have the YM data to do the 9:30 analysis on.

The plot shows the daily path followed by the ES contract if one closes at the end of the day or STOPSm out OR Takes the profit of 2.5 points. The stop loss is at 4 points. TOTAL would be 70.25 points. That would mean a profit of $3512.50 per contract for the Dec Contract.NOT too bad.!!! Total number of times stooped out = 8 out of 63 days....Very good performance.

.....the degrees held have no value in this business.......sorry.....actually can be a hindrance........honestly.........you actually are at a disadvantage believe it or not..........my brother is same........can't accept being wrong.....only will accept his stuff..........or try to make my stuff conform to his stuff.....big ego's are big trouble...........and if u know what u r doing why are u still backtesting?.........

It seems you are a big fan of the reversal. :D

RE;chicago time

Baifriend;

After you get between 40-60-80-100 years of age;
you can forget things like that , so wrote it in trading plan[in red]
9;30 reversal chicago time/central time.

Another way top remember it;
YM is a Chicago BOT contract;
9;30 reversal,chicago time/central time.

good work, although i have not read it carefully.

Hello:

Here are the results of the backtesting that I did based on volente's 9:30 CT reversals. The way I programmed it (in MATLAB)is as follows:

1. I calculated the open -9:30 ct price and I did two kinds of tests based on the calculation, one to simply place the reverse market order if the price had gone up from the open and vice versa. Second, I calculated the Standard deviation of the price series upto 9:30 Ct and if it is greater than certain threshold and if the price open - 9:30 ct price is > 0, then I placed a SELL order and vice versa.

2. I did the above procedure for each and every contract going back to 2003. The analysis is in the attached Excel Sheet....Comments Please....

So you mean to say that you do not backtest your strategy before implementing it ???UMM...thats intersting...Moreover, where have I said that that I am using this strategy. I am just showing your the backtest results of 9:30 reversals.....

read the posts before you speak...

...........backtesting is crucial.......he who doesn't backtest doesn't know what he is doing........i have done too much....my eyes are permanently crossed from it......... ......... i hope u make a million dollars a month..not likely but i truly wish u the best.......my attack was uncalled for........keep up the good work.........porgie
