Gaza ceasefire elusive as Antony Blinken leaves Middle East

Hamas is now calling up the families of hostages and demanding they pay ransoms. This means Hamas is no different than kidnapping thugs -- they are just in it for financial gain. This is why they are called terrorists.

There is no purpose in negotiating with Hamas -- the terrorists obviously don't negotiate in good faith -- and no ceasefire agreement will be reached. It's time to go in and finish the job of eliminating Hamas as a governing and militant entity in Gaza.

This "don't kill Sinwar" proposal is actually a condition that Israel should agree with -- plus add the condition that Sinwar leaves Gaza and goes to another country. They should add other Hamas leaders in Gaza to the deal as well -- just as long as they leave.

Israel has done these types of deals in the past.

Haaretz editor says Netanyahu’s goal is ‘creeping occupation’ of Gaza

Aluf Benn said in an editorial that the Israeli prime minister is “torpedoing” ceasefire negotiations because he ultimately wants a “prolonged occupation of the Gaza Strip”.

“Caravan after caravan, outpost after outpost” Netanyahu is planning a “creeping occupation” of Gaza, Benn said, adding that the Israeli prime minister’s recent insistence on maintaining Israeli control of “defense and strategic assets”, such as the Philadelphi and Netzarim corridors illustrates his intentions.

The editorial came as the families of Israeli captives held in Gaza criticised Netanyahu’s handling of the truce talks, saying the “full and direct responsibility for the fate of the negotiations is on the prime minister”.

Quite frankly I don't know what the answer is to the situation.
Israel is out to conquer neighbouring lands and America is there to help them.

It's a mystery to me why Israel (who's in bed with Russia) has basically unfettered access to US ammunition, while Ukraine who is fighting Russians is on rations and basically not allowed or restricting in attacking Russian territory.

DOHA: Top US diplomat Antony Blinken headed home on Wednesday after failing to secure a Gaza ceasefire, warning both Israel and Hamas his plan may be the last chance to avert a broader war.

The US secretary of state appealed to Hamas to urgently accept a US-backed truce proposal, while also entering into a public spat with Israel over its future presence in the Gaza Strip.

“Time is of the essence,” Blinken said after stops in key Arab mediators Qatar and Egypt as well as Israel on his ninth tour of the region aiming to halt the more than 10-month war.

“With every passing day, more bad things can happen to more good people who don’t deserve it,” he said before flying out of Doha.
