Lol. Yet, you don't dispute the article‘s facts even though “you lived there”. Know when to say when as right now you are supporting coerced confessions. But, since you asked, here is another article that discusses evidence tampering in the Japanese legal system. It also says they are trying to reform, or in other words, change the system you support. Maybe you should tell them about your ideas.

I never dispute facts. But using a few examples of an imperfect system to denigrate an entire system is outright idiotic. We together could in a single day come up with a list of 10,000+ cases in America's legal system that are outrageously pathetic. It is a very poor form of argumentation to deny a multitude of issues that limit one system and attack another system that on average works way better but suffers from fewer problems. Like denying how fucked up America's healthcare system is because Japan's or Germany's or Scandinavia's health care system, which all are WORLDS better, suffer from a few weaknesses, too.

You are simply denied because Americans and their regulatory and legal system pose way too much risk to many banks and financial institutions. There are breakevens and I am not arguing that foreign firms reject to do business in America or with Americans but most firms think very hard and long whether it makes sense to take the horrendous risks to do business in America.

You are throwing out everything but the kitchen sink in the hopes something will stick. Quite frankly, I know the limits of the US system better than you since I work in it. There are problems, but you haven’t stated them. Also, you have changed the argument twice now but, I just wanted to hear you say “I quit” since blowhard “experts” on everything rarely do. By the way, I am a US citizen, but wasn’t born in the US and also lived in Europe and Asia as an adult. I can compare the three as well. Once again though, stick with what you know because you don’t know much about the US legal system and apparently little about the Japanese system.

no worries, newwurldmn brought up race first (post #73) and then Sig (#84) posted a pretty dumb statistic that did not account for the fact that in the US 61% are Caucasian, 12% are Black, 18% are Hispanic, and 6% are Asian (2017 figures)

Caucasians: 45.3%
Black: 52.5%
Others: 2.2%
So, Blacks despite only representing 12-13% of the total population committed over half of all crimes. The numbers may have shifted somewhat in the past 11 years because of the influx of Hispanics but I am pretty sure the distribution today points to a similar situation. Hispanics may even commit more crimes today than Caucasians, proportionately to their percentage of the total population.
Of course, do our left-leaning friends scream at such facts and argue that poverty induces crimes. That is an argument for another day and does not negate the facts. That is all I have to say re race and the misleading statistic @Sig posted.

Well, you certainly know nothing about the Japanese or German or Swiss, or French legal system than me or anyone else, otherwise, you would not have to consult the first article you found via google search, lol. The list of issues in the American legal system is never-ending. Falsely accused inmates on death row, the highest percentage of the population behind bars in the world (incarceration for minor offenses), prosecution of corporates in order to extract money rather than punish wrongdoing (especially white-collar crimes, settlements whenever possible often without the admission of wrongdoing), biased verdicts by inept jurors and judges, politically biased judges,.....

Of course I have an agenda, what else? To call out leftist BS, how all races are performing equally and uphold equal moral and ethical standards. They don't. And women who go on maternity leave cost employers and other employees on average more (performance being equal) but the PC brigade tries to convince us otherwise. For them the definition of equal is that employees without kids have to pay for those that have. I am all in for an honest discussion and compromises but the discussion has to start with the truth not blatant lies.
