You could not even afford to rent in Hong Kong even if you wanted to be here. German is just your wild hunch. You have been trying most countries by now. My education is vastly superior to your fun MBA from UpPenn. Seems to come with the program, most every UPenn MBA I ever came across had very low moral values, integrity, and skills/knowledge, but they provide you guys with first class coaching in marketing and an unwarranted overdose of arrogance. The ROI I generate most likely runs circles around that of whatever you are doing. By the way what are you actually doing? Import/export? Consulting?

Well, it works in many other countries. Perhaps you should ask yourself whether the legal training is good enough. Or perhaps the entire precepts of precedence law is flawed perhaps? Nothing is perfect for sure, but judges applying law code rather than grasping at straws of a few precedent cases seems like a place to start. Listen, in the end, for example, software companies have to decide whether they want to patch and tweak an antiquated code base forever or perhaps at some point write an entirely new api that is based on modern principles.

I acknowledge your domain knowledge, and never claimed I know much about American law (neither does almost anyone else in this thread by the way) . As previously argued that should never disqualify someone from taking a position. Sometimes it helps to have outsiders critique the entire status quo because all others usually suffer from tunnel vision.

I’m comfortble with saying that there are no countries that have a legal system like you propose.

With that, I’m done arguing with somebody about something I’ve lived for 25 years.

You are a UPenn graduate? They should revoke your graduation certificate. Your cited statistic is as dumb as it gets. Committed crimes by absolute numbers? The type of crimes are not taken into account and the fact that Hispanics and Blacks are minorities hence each crime they commit weighs a lot higher than crimes committed by whites.

Many countries have a predominantly statutory legal system with a very well defined and extensive civil law code that is constantly amended. Very few judicial rulings are challenged there. Japan for starters? It's not about winning or losing. It's simply about acknowledging there are better ways to do things.

Yes it works very well and it is pretty fair. As said nothing is perfect but I take the Japanese justice system any given day over the American one. Sure, when in trouble with the law whether you are broke or have 100 million makes zero difference, no different treatment (see treatment of crooked Ghosn). Law abiding citizens and residents are treated impartially and fairly. I lived in Japan for over 10 years, worked as salaried employee as trader for several banks, started up my own business, bought a house in Tokyo, and obtained my permanent residence. Had to deal with many different aspects of the Japanese legal system. Always felt it worked very well.

I will let the fact you believe “coercing confessions works ok” speak for itself regarding Japans system, which they themselves are saying needs to be reformed, and for your knowledge re legal systems in general.
