Worst TWS Yet?

I downloaded 885.2 a few days back (been running 882 happily but wanted to see what had changed and noted that 885 had a lot of bug fixes for 884).

Its running fine. I have reverted to 882 and back to 885 and I get a few extra windows on changing ... but I just close them and it continues fine next time.

I've run it on winxp sp2 32bit and windows server 2008 64bit. With 1.6.0_10b26 32bit and 1.6.0_10b27 64bit. Its fine.

Aside from that, this is day 2 of using 885. It seems to be working smoothly.

I have to admit it's nice to know at least someone else experienced the PnL column problem. I can remove it as well.

Maybe I have missed something important. What exactly is this bug about? I use 882 with API, so I would like to know. Do you have a link that explaines what bug that is? The Fixes and Changes section of 885 release notes doesn't say anything about API orders.

TP said on the conference call there would be an IB version of futuretrade by the end of the second quarter. IBsoft, username on et, denied this recently and said features of futuretrade would be incorporated in TWS.
 
That sucks. I personally don't upgrade right away - bug-fixes always seem to take a week or two with new software, just like Windoze.

Still, it's pretty pathetic of IB to roll out upgrades without fully testing them. Just because it's the norm in the software industry, doesn't mean it's justifiable.

Here's a partial reprint of an email I received from ButtonTrader in June:

Today we released version 7.00.45.9. This is partly a patch-release for a current IB-server bug, and partly a release for the upcoming TWS-885.x (which is currently in Browser, but is expected to become the new Client-Based version soon)



First some information about the IB-server path:

Starting on June-21, IB gradually updated their IB-servers with bugged software, which caused trouble with some of our Multi-account clients. We analyzed the trouble and ask IB for a solution, which they did last week with a server patch. But, we found today, that trouble is still present if you trade Oil and Gas futures on NYMEX and IPE (contracts: QM, QG, WTI etc). As we cannot wait until IB resolves this again (Server updates take a whole week), we have patched it in this ButtonTrader 7.00.45.9 release.



Specific information for the TWS-885 release:

The TWS-885 solves the reported TWS-bug of “not updating TWS entered orders by API-programs”. So if you have a real-trade license: please update to TWS 885, as soon as it is released as stand-alone version (all version starting from 882 have this bug).

You can go to ButtonTrader.com, click on downloads, and then click on "release update", then click "release notes". This will give you the information I gave, and perhaps some other info.
