Winning $20 M Won't Make You Happy

All empirical evidence perfectly contradicts your assertion. A large majority of those living in poverty display a lot more happiness and contentment than the majority of extremely wealthy. How do you explain that? The reason can't be that those in poverty just don't know better because that would imply that the extremely wealthy do know better yet still don't show contentment and display true happiness.

I reckon that the reason is that most in poverty don't have the means nor time to focus on a whole lot of other pursuits than being with family and caring for those dear to their heart. Coincidently that is exactly what truly causes happiness.

...I feel sorry if this is the whole lesson you learned from being poor. For me it's the opposite. I grew up in a pretty wealthy family. My parents house had over 6 floors and more than 25 rooms..

I feel sorry for anyone, wealthy or poor, who overvalue the importance of money...

I cannot say whether I would live the same life style now had I not experienced wealth and lavish life styles early on in my life. But I know that money does not buy happiness that is for sure.

Well, if you had ever been poor, you'd know that money buys happiness. Sorry, you failed a bit there on the convincing. For you it is the opposite, as you grew up wealthy.

So you have never been poor.

Dude, give it all up and lose the home and lose all your material shit, and learn what it means to be poor before you speak of this again. I'm a Klingon your ass!

I forgot the reason I was thinking of this show, but it had something to do with Klingons.

Well you get an F grade for having failed the topic. It's not about whether poor people appreciate money or not. It's whether lots of money buys happiness or not.

How would you know? You have never been poor? 20 million is not going to make Buffet or Gates etc happy. But it will make shmoes like us happy.

you can adjust the $75000 with inflation... but there are many studies on this type of thing.... above basic needs, more money does NOT buy more happiness... in other words money does buy happiness only to a certain extent.

but more money does bring more sense of achievement.

Like eating the last slice of pizza is not as good as the first slice. Dimishing marginal utility.
