I stuck with XP until it was just about to lose support. No regrets. Using Win 7 Ultimate I plan on doing the very same thing. Let others be beta testers ( even though it is well beyond beta testing stage ). Unless Win 10 offers you features you need to continues doing business as usual, don't fix it unless it's broke.
Assuming you have a bunch of computers like most people on this site, I would DL it on a non critical computer and play around with it. It takes a while to get used to as it is much different than 7. You may not like it. After the recent MSFT flops, I'm moving back to Apple myself which I originally used a waaay long time ago.
Also recommended is definitely not paying $15 for the Windows Media DVD player (it comes free if you had Windows 8 prior). The DVD player is crap. There is a decent free player by, I think, VCL. Just google "Windows 10 DVD player cnet."

Windows 10 is not that bad, as most people kind of make it out to be. 
Windows 8 when it first came out...now, that was a horrid experience.
I currently use Windows 7, since I scrapped my W10 PC for a laptop. W7 came installed with it
but I wouldn't have a problem switching or going back to W10

I was very hesitant about the move, because drivers were not available, particularly for my video card. My recent research tells me all is kosher for an upgrade for me. I paid premium money for a Dell Workstation on the advice of Scataphagos, and I'm glad I did. The support alone is worth the money. I am now assured the move for my rig has been tested and is approved. The drivers I need are available on the Dell site. The one thing I will have to do before is upgrade the Dell Backup and Restore Manager. I'm not sure if this is free or not, I didn't check that.
I just read a tech article in the local papers that the free move will end on 29th July.
I plan to move to 10 before then. As long as all will work as before, I'm happy to move. As a natural progression, software will adjust to 10, so it can't hurt.
Yes, because after July 29th, you will have to pay for it, and MS will stop providing update for older OS. The only time you should avoid the upgrade, is if your PC mother board does not have updates for Win 10. I bought a refurbished Dell early this year, and upgraded without checking. I can't get updates or use my USB ports. Very annoying.
I've upgraded 4 laptops to 10. No problem. Win 10 is nice, as long as you don't have driver problems. I am hesitant to update the desktop system mainly because I cannot find for the life of me if the hardware RAID controller is supported. Had driver issues with that before, even on win 7. It is stable. Unless you have a very specific reason NOT to update, I would go for it.
Personally I use Linux with the graphical interface Ubuntu. Installing it is a little gnarly, so you want to buy it pre-installed from some place like System76.Com. After that it updates much better than Doze, in that you don't have to constantly re-boot, and it is totally easy and fast. I have never had the blue screen of death. It is secure by design, not afterthought, and open-source so any holes get plugged fast. I have been using it for 10 years now. I run OpenOffice for the spreadsheet etc. stuff- free, as is Ubuntu. No need for any anti-virus crap running on top of your OS, and if you are stupid enough to go to porn sites or open bad attachments, they won't work as they are designed for Windows holes, or, now. Mac holes. Think about it. Pay a little more for a PC with this pre-installed (actually Macs are about the same price and all you get is that girly apple on the laptop cover). System 76 has some nice systems, and in fact the one I am using now is 5 years old (which cost $2,000 then) and runs like a scalded dog. And, consider, every damn server you are contacting via the net uses this same OS. There is a reason they don't run Doze or Crapple software. A big reason. Why not go with the big boys?
Regarding investing, I run 4 different Interactive Brokers Trader Workstations on the thing, along with a few Chrome browsers with various investment sites in them, plus spreadsheets and so on, and it runs... fast. And never crashes. I will reboot when I have to for updates, but unlike Doze this averages once a month, so I just reboot then, as this OS has no memory leaks and other stuff that slows stuff down and eventually chokes the system.
Anyway I am a serious investor with millions under management so I must have solid and secure tools. And oh, there are plenty of apps available for free or a small amount of money to extend the system, easy to find and painless to install. You just have to go through a little learning curve, in which you will find everything is superior to Doze or Crapple. But, if you are running stuff on a smart phone, you can't run it. In that case, use a Droid system. Apple/iPhone screw you. But for a desktop, use Ubuntu. Right now I am looking at 3 monitors, and you can have 4 sets of these 3 windows in each. Christ, you have to be a fool to have anything else.
The only reason more people don't use it is that there are no advertising dollars behind it. So if you want to continue being sold down the river because you are too ignorant, or stupid, or lazy, to change, please do. In that case I expect I am taking your money in the markets, simply because I am less ignorant, less stupid, and less lazy. Ha ha.

I have upgraded 2 computers to win 10 and one remain on Win 7. I have constant problem with drivers, onc a month system crashes and etc... Win 7 works perfect.
I would say, if you do not do heavy stuff, run a lot of programs, do not have several extra monitors and etc then you may upgrade to Win 10. Othervise, I recommend staying with Win 7 at least for some time and as somebody told above "lets other be the testers".
Win 10 was released with a lot of Bug. Many of them already fixed, yet there is still a way to go.
You also have to bear in mind that sooner or later you will be pressed to upgrade as with time, many program simply will refuse to work on older windows version.
