Well, I would think that they still haven't gone to w10...I haven't. So what you suggest above likely doesn't apply.

There were folks that alleged (previously) the same things Snowden and wikileaks later revealed as true; but they (folks) weren't taken seriously by the masses.

For me, I express my concerns to others. They can inquire further, or do their own due diligence, or do nothing. But I don't need for others to agree with my opinions. If they like win10; I love that fact.

My point is: I wouldn't conclude that silence equates to acquiescence.
 
hmm, the logic of yours in your previous post does not quite work out...if someone makes claims about Windows 10 then they most likely have somewhat tried and experimented with Win 10 (and most in those threads that held a very negative view of Win 10 claimed they tried it). So, if what you claim holds true then it is irrelevant whether they have adopted Win 10 or not. Its about that they were dissatisfied with Win 10 (in whatever capacity they got into touch with Win 10) before and now they do not seem to be dissatisfied. Someone who holds such a grudge against Microsoft does not simply shut up because time has passed.

Most likely Windows 10 has turned out to not be such bad product after more features have surfaced and initial glitches been ironed out. Improvement in the product perhaps, better user adaptation, whatever it may be, most seem to see Windows 10 in a way better light today than they have 3 to 6 months ago.

Please let's not get into a privacy issue discussion because it is pointless. I believe that at every corner of our lives we give away information and ironically some of the biggest MS antagonists have no issue to lay out their private life each and every single day on FB and Co. I do not take issue with that, and I do understand for some life is all about the ability to have choices. And again, can we try to refrain from OS wars...

I simply shed light into Win 10 from a user's perspective.

P.S.: I use Linux as well for selected tasks, but currently I am not too excited about Linux after Linux Mint has been the only OS in my user history that has ever bricked a complete (and previously perfectly working) laptop (found out after the fact that it is a well documented issue with one specific laptop and specific Linux Mint version). Also, try installing Theano with full GPU CUDA support on Linux and share your experience, its a complete chaos. My previous impression that it would be a mess to install on Windows was unfounded. So not all that has "linux" attached to it shines...

Well, I am speaking of those that don't speak highly of win10 and have not tried win10. I'm speaking of those that don't speak highly of win10 not because of its functionality as an OS, but because of the privacy (beyond "pointless" FB) issues. I'm speaking of those silent ones; not the alleged silent ones that have tried win10.

Not here to debate privacy. If you like win10, I love that fact.

You say you have not tried the product and hence only hold a third person's opinion. Maybe you could provide links to what you read online regarding Windows 10 that speaks with authority on the features of this operating system and which provides value to others, or perhaps else let those share who have actually used or use the product?

Update to my previous post ref: Win 7 CR (pseudo service pack 2)

Completed assembly/configuration of new Computer. Installed Win 7 pro, went through Thurrott's suggestion:

Installed Win7pro
Installed Drivers (chipset & networking)
Installed two software updates—KB3102810 and KB3083710
Installed the April 2015 servicing stack update.
Installed Convenience Rollup "needed to use the CR x64 link provided by Thurrot"
-- "Had issue downloading from MS (CR) site" --

Considerable amount of remaining Updates were reduced, regardless, Windows update still hangs for hours making Win7 fresh installs a time consuming endeavor. Wasted an entire day.
(Designed obsolescence?) < I believe it is intentional...

Up until recently, we were forced to remain with Win7pro, because the proprietary software used for the DMS (Document Mgmt System) was not supported.

If it weren't for the Privacy agreement in the EULA which permits MS access to ALL information local AND cloud I would consider going to Win 10 pro for the office networks (law firm).

(We still aren't sure if we are or aren't violating data protection agreements with clients)
So Win7pro remains until 100% clarified... Currently the language is too vague...

For home and personal use, I am becoming more flexible and will most likely migrate to Win10pro. I was on the insider ring for win10 and it did make old hardware considerably faster.

Trading Computers, remain Win7pro until no longer supported (if it isn't broke, don't fix it)

If your proprietary software is supported and you aren't storing the launch codes to the US missile defense system or other sensitive information, Win10pro makes sense. It is fast and stable. "Most" bugs have been resolved. Privacy settings can be adjusted to acceptable levels for most people. Updates can be deferred up to a week with Win10pro, "reboots during more appropriate time". (Those arbitrary reboots for Win10home users is just unacceptable)

If your hardware or software is not supported by Win10 and/or you have sensitive information which you have a fiduciary duty to protect Stick with Win7

There isn't a right or wrong answer to Win7 or Win10, just have to look at your particular situation. The only suggestion is to go pro whenever possible...

Eventually we will all be assimilated into the Collective... just a matter of time...

The best part is when your computer updates itself without your permission. But anyhow, I have a travel notebook with W10 and it doesn't bother me because I installed Classic Shell on it and I don't use any of the newer features. Thus prectically it is a 7 for me. But it did update itself to W10 although it was already running it!

Anyhow, I don't want to debate its merits or faults, just wanted to show an option for those who wanted to stay on their previous versions....

Of course... But they should not wonder if they are not quite taken too seriously. It's like "I don't like yahoo because I read it's bad". I understand your point though, you would make a pact with the devil if he alone provided you with options and choices. For some in life all it matters is that they feel they have the ability to make choices and feel they are in control. That alone is so powerful to them that they would kill for it. How dare MS came along and took the choice of upgrading away from them. Goodness, some really live a splendid life that all they seemingly have to care about is that their OS dares to download and install the latest security patches. For each his own...
