WIN2K SP4 Released

Quote from max401:

I run with no virus software whatsoever. I run ZoneAlarm, Trend Micro's online virus checker once in a while. Never had a virus; never opened an .exe from an email either.

In any event, I just reinstalled WIN2K from scratch and then the SP4 which was all inclusive of the other SP's. Seems to run better than with the SP4 tacked on, but maybe due to the clean install. You should reload any MS OS once a year anyway.

Do you run ZoneAlarm Pro, or the free version? And, does it do anything to keep "spyware" off your machine?

Thanks!

I think the popup blocker is helpful there, I use Free Surfer MKII and the freebie ZA. The only spyware I really get is cookie oriented. Gotta stay off pinkworld.com!

Someday MS may actually get their act together but not today.

Actually, not quite correct. There was a note with the SP4 upgrade which said, "... indication that additional [patches] are needed after SP4 upgrade are incorrect. They are included in SP4...".

I believe that is correct, as after I installed SP4 and checked Windows Update, there was no idication of additional patches needed.

6 days ago, I did the Express Installation for a stand-alone computer and all appears to be working OK so far. (Some have reported trouble after trying to install SP4. I wonder if they remembered to disable the antivirus, as instructed??)
