Will you stay with Cyber/Schwab if they only offer per trade pricing?

The Schwab executive I spoke with agreed to keep mine open for a period of time with no minimum requirements so that I can see if they get things fixed sufficiently for me to resume trading with them. That is a good move on their part because, with no real cost to them for me to continue using some features of SS Pro, they may be able to salvage a client who spends a fair amount each year in commissions. They know the chances of getting me back if I close my account and leave completely are low. If only they'd shown that much gumption before all of this happened to begin with ...

I will keep some longer term positions open with them, and will do some trading from time to time, it just won't be at nearly the volume I was doing with CT.

I just came from a 1 1/2 hour live presentation for TradeStation. From several of the remarks the teacher made, I believe a ton of ex CT people have closed their Schwab account and moved on. All the more reason for Schwab to make it right.

A schwab rep told me that a zero balance was ok but there was a 10.00 monthly fee if ten trades were not placed. I have decided to take a good chunk of my margin account to realtick account at mastertrader and try it for a while. I too looked at soooo many new platforms and honestly there were a few others that would would have been ok too. I also really liked cobra but in the end the software was the difference for me.

I intend on keeping my IRA with schwab for the time being and a small margin account just in case. I realized a while ago that cybertrader was the best all around account for me and is the reason I have stayed for so long. I really think schwab could have just said we need to start charging ECN fees/rebates in the per share accounts and kept the software. I think everyone would have stayed and schwab could have made cybertrader a profit center instead killing it.

One of the plus things I liked about realtick is that their tab feature can simulate much of the look of cybertrader. I don't think I will end up using it this way forever, but starting from a similar looking place is a plus for me.

Rich...what are your remarks on Tradestation? Any other feedback on other brokers?

To Target, Good Luck
To Joey,
TradeStation has some nice features but they are also missing some. No Streaming News. CT was one of the few brokers who had a platform where your news could watch over specific stocks. TradeStation says they have none.

I think the platform is very sophisticated and very good for chart analysisi. It always seems that the more sophisticated, the more difficult to learn the platform.

I use Wizetrade which is much easier to read and it keeps life very simple for me. Because of that, I have no need for something as powerful as TS.

Cobra has the news feature you're looking for. You can request a demo and they'll email you one...very similiar to Cybertrader. The reason I can't go with them is the per share vs. the per trade charge (they charge per share).

That's the one feature (linked news) that I'm having issues finding a decent broker to carry.

If anyone knows of one, please let us know!

Thanks for that.

You should find this interesting. I just went to shut down my Schwab account. Got a notice of an upgrade. Downloading it now.

Maybe they will try to fix as promised.

Joey,

Have you asked cobra if they will make a flat rate for you? They seem pretty flexible and may be willing to accommodate. Also, several brokers I looked at post or will offer decent flat ticket rates. mastertrader, rml and noble all seem to do it. and of course there is always ameritrade and fidelity.

Oh, and I am not sure it is exactly what you are looking for because I am on a demo without live news, but the realtick news window does have a filter that appears can be used in a similar fashion to cybertrader narrowing the news to one or a few tickers.

I'm stickin with Schwab for the time being. I was so close to leaving, but they are willing to work with me now. I'm able to collect my interest and still have the full day trading buy power.

Also, they have the avg. Price on the stock box, which is critical for me, as I sometimes avg. into a stock. I don't have time to whip out the calculator!

With my trading style, I can just use Arca and Nsdq

Account Detail is still a mess.......They've worked on Positions a bit

Not so sure about shorting yet...

For those still looking.. I was chking out Terra Nova, the Direct Pro Platform.. They recommend these guys at Trend Fund and I know these guys don't dink around.

Speed trader seems pretty good. Charts suck in my opinion..

Best of luck to all!!!

Lets make 2008 our most profitable year! No matter what the obstacles!

God bless

Smacky
