Visions of Infinity: The Great Mathematical Problems
by Ian Stewart

What a great book. Rarely do books go into real mathematics. This one does and gives an inkling of what real mathematicians do. One thing that this books does that few others do in the subject is to explain why some mathematical problems are famous - the solution is not what is solely important, but whether the technique used to solve it leads to some insight into the structure of mathematics itself.

My favorite is the Hodge Conjecture (if I had to choose), but any one of these problems is extremely elegant and has led to amazing insights into mathematics.

Well worth the read.

There are some great books mentioned in this thread I am going through page by page .

My interest is spirituality and I am striving to experience oneness. I meditate everyday for at least two hours. In Sundays I attend chanting which is non stop for about 5 hours. Any remarkable book on spirituality will be helpful. Recently I read four books by Lee Coit and liked them. I try to read quite a lot. Thanks
