The point of this thread is a lot of people are unhappy with the fact it doesn't lead to equal outcomes evident in the rise of left wing politics and the youth leaving university with an anti capitalist mindset.

Nothing can safeguard against a revolution. Other than that the flat tax should be guaranteed by the Constitution, me thinks. Taxation is the only leverage the left wingers have & can use against capitalism.

Easier said than done. The Lefty pussies are not only thinking about "equality", but "RICH equality". Well, that ain't how it works. Have them look around at other socialistic societies with all of their "equality". Yeah, nearly everyone equal, but also POOR! Cuba, Venezuela, N. Korea, others.

How to solve? Cut off ALL but minimalist support... and tell the university youth pussies... "make your own way in the world or die".

I'm sure they'll go, "an empty belly ain't not fun.... better get out and make myself a living if I plan on eating regular". That's the first step to solving the problem.

Do y'all think there is a threshold of labor that should enable a certain standard of living?
Should a 40 hour workweek guarantee a certain standard of commodity purchasing power?

Is there any threshold? We have regulations because we would like workers' compensation to not fall beneath a certain quality of life.

What are the cost/benefits/risks of a complete laissez faire system versus one where the poor are subsidized against damaging the system more with crime or radicalization? Even the idea of taking them all out to the shed in the back as Scat mentioned in another thread, involves considerable risk and resources. I think the idea of a social safety net has some practical merit that gives some people the chance of becoming contributors again. My sell to rugged capitalists is just what will cost the economy more?

Considering that nobody in any economic system curls up and dies willingly, yes. They're more likely to do what any group of impoverished does; collaborate to work for survival outside of a system, which may involve riots, crime, and violence.

This has been a long standing justification for the welfare state... lower class and upper class are not static places.. people don't always stay rich, or stay poor.. for one point.. You can't buy down potential riots, crime, and radicalization with other peoples money. Creating dependency is all that is achieved by the "social net" Private welfare where face to face people can be accountable to the help they receive is the only way i approve of it.. This idea that a paternal benevolent government is needed or even can exist to so called "help" people is a complete lie. It is always the poor class of people that gets hurt with interventionist gov. It traps them there and makes a less liquid flow .. its a trap in other words.. Radicalized is when the government tries to take the place of business , fails and then blames capitalism to then gain more and more power. Any idea that a very powerful central government is anything but a complete sacrifice of freedom and opportunity is a very wrong idea..
