If it is real, most of it is the backer's. Well, they could have a 50-50 split, and then yes, it was a good pay off, but I just don't see how selling options can give such a big return? Specially when selling both sides? The put side was a loss, obviously...
(if for real indeed) He made 600k on the Jan 50 call, which he probably shorted at about $10. So he would've been short 600x50 calls.
Still I think it's a shit strategy, since he would've blown 1.2 mln+ if the stock had gone to $80. Which was a very credible scenario.... there were talks of >100. And at 100, he's down 2.4mln.
So no matter how it turned out, luck doesn't make a good trader... just a lucky one. Everyone needs a little luck, but my standpoint holds... sooner or later he will get chopped... he just escaped a major one...
I don't know why everyone is so in awe... sure, 400k is nice to make... but surely you guys look at the risk right?
400k return vs 1.2 mln risk.... or even 2.4 mln risk....
Get real people! I get better odds at the f@#$ing roulette table....
