Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

...
Yet, while you profited on the trade, surely you took more heat than profit, yes? So what's all this talk about low risk trades?

Thanks LF!

The piece that allowed it to work (imo) was his mostly constant BE distance. Excellent job with that M4-1 ! The original 2 contracts were entered expecting about 8 points IIRC. In the end, he did do better than that... after half dozen adds, and multiple days hodl. The take-away is to only take on risk that you are comfortable with. Most would be well (or better) served to stick to an initial trade plan, with risk clearly defined. Opportunity cost can be just as costly as trade losses.

You seemed confident we'd see a drop TODAY prior to today's Open. Good call on that. Any particular reason for that...?

the reason was the charts !

i entered to prove a point..none of the additions were done with much looking..so..yes..i was doing risky trading..but overall the charts said..

whoaa..what is going on here..looks like the dumb ass traders are all gona get stopped out after the holidays..

most of what i talk about concerns short term trades..and.. for that i have described my setup above..but..you also need to be in tune with the ES.. otherwise you will just get fleeced !

Thanks LF!

back to your other post..this trade i done was a bad trade/s..and..i was rewarded..i am sorry to say that i done a lot of these in the past..and..yes..i did get caught out ONE DAY..

you don't mess with the ES :)

you can pull some money out of it..but you must do your looking..be setup correctly..and more importantly..be prepared to get out or reverse on a whim..if not..it is just a matter of TIME..in the bad sense this time :)

ok..let's get real for a minute..

trading the ES..or any market..is not easy..as..if you approach it nilly willy..then it will definitely cost you money..

most of what is touted out there is crap..we all know that by now..but those starting out..the real suckers..will never get a chance to know..as they will just listen to the dumb ass gobshites who talk out their assholes..

very few actually make it to the time when they fully understand what it is they need to do..and what it is they should not do..

it takes years of silly and stupid mistakes before you eventually "cop on"..and i truly believe that no one can bypass that "experience curve" by listening to people who have gone through it..

the holy grail does not exist..it never did exist..or it never will exist !

it is all about a correct "state of mind"..and that is exactly why so many never make it..as they are living in another world.. which of course is where the minority want them :)

THAT is the holy grail! ssshhhhh!
The idea of a holy grail as it relates to this thread seems to be a bit of a red herring or a distraction, no?

Is there not a different way of looking at the market than most? Was that not a point being made at various points throughout the thread?

I say to you, YOUR way of looking at the market is YOUR way. Own YOUR way!
That is the grail, for YOU.

To avoid confusion as to what is being stated, ANY reader can replace YOU with MY or ME.

Is this the specific meaning when it's been said that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path?

Humbly, I'd say that this is my experience too. I don't think there's any substitute for experience. Maybe it's possible to shave a good few years off the learning curve, but there's no substitute for experience.

This is true for most other things in life - even in fields where what you need to do is explained or shown in great detail. So why wouldn't it be for trading?

Please define Holy Grail. :)

If by Holy Grail you mean some perfect methodology which never loses and which would simply continue to accumulate unhindered in the market on a daily basis, well, maybe.

But surely there's a smarter and more knowledgeable way to trade than may be known to most. So, by that definition, I'd say the Grail does exist.

Or what say you?

i refer to the "real" Holy Grail..the one in the story books..it is a reference to how the mind of most has been so convoluted..that..in order to SEE what is really happening you have to first..get the facts..which..can only be got by reading up on History..

remember the little exercises with Montaigne and Tyndale :)

is there a better way to trade..of course there is..did i not just demonstrate it recently with my running commentary :)

the problem is..most will not make any use of any information that they are presented with..why.. simple..not enough experience..and no CLEAR mind !
