The piece that allowed it to work (imo) was his mostly constant BE distance. Excellent job with that M4-1 ! The original 2 contracts were entered expecting about 8 points IIRC. In the end, he did do better than that... after half dozen adds, and multiple days hodl. The take-away is to only take on risk that you are comfortable with. Most would be well (or better) served to stick to an initial trade plan, with risk clearly defined. Opportunity cost can be just as costly as trade losses.
