agreed on the fuseboard - so stranded copper cores you call flexible power cables - well, here to learn
stranded as in more than one core..flex cable is multi stranded to make it flexible..any power carrying cable above 2.5 mm sq is stranded to increase the current carrying capacity..if 4 or 6 mm sq was one solid core it would not have the same current carrying capacity due to the resistance..
i have terminated 240 mm sq cable..not easy when you are trying to connect it to a main breaker that might only be 12" from the top of the panel..and you sometimes only get one chance to crimp the lug..as there might not be room to leave a bit spare !!!
anyway..that was a long time ago..and i was young and foolish..today i am older..but still foolish..but in a different way
