Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Trading, or to be more specific, making money trading has everything to do with math.
Not for me. I trade activity around recent bars highs and lows and breakouts and pull backs from recent levels, hardly any complex math but it works....very well.

I like the title of this thread. :)

"Obviously" one cannot expect to swim using the bicycling skill. Swimming and bicycling are two unique/distinct skills which needs separate practices to develop those skills.

So what kind of skill is trading? Is it predominantly "analytical" skill or something else ?

What do they all have in common?
well, I would say that, at least for me the difficult part was understanding the question, especially with the first sample, once the question was understood the solution was simple enough.

so I would say that the common theme is getting the correct framing for the question, then the math will do the rest, but also, at least in one case you needed to think out of the box to find the solution

This one got me, i tried n tried until i just decided to go find the answer. I am glad i did because i would never have thought it to be that way.

Congrats ! You proved traders are creative. :)

This cracked me up. :)

Thanks for sharing a good video. :)

Now the question is "where does psychology fit in?"

First, what is psychology?

It simply means "viewpoint".

(Dictionary definition : The scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour in a given "context".

Here the "context" is the keyword. Context in simple term means "viewpoint".)

"Trading is math" is what ?

It is a viewpoint.

"Trading is magic" is another view point.

We can see the two viewpoints and their impact in trading presented in an elaborate way in the video.

"When we embrace a viewpoint then it becomes our psychology."
