quite right..but not what NY had in mind i would say
Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?
firstly, it would help to know what the obvious is..as you rightly say
knowing what the obvious is..is not the most important thing..but knowing the WHY..well..that is the one that can make all the difference when trading
think about what we have been posting and taking about..is it not obvious!
now..seeing what is obvious..WHY is it so that the obvious is not so obvious
it helps to remind oneself..that..the only thing i really know is that i really know nothing

I'm sure that many people know what the obvious is but haven't connected it to the original post.
The reason could be that some behaviour and ideas are so instinctive and intuitive that it is hard to articulate them in precise terms. It could also be because some people are incapable of analysing in simple steps what it is they are trying to achieve. The need to be right and acting on instinct or emotionally, rather than trading according to a plan, is probably where the disposition effect comes from.
Another possible reason is the tendency of the mind to look for patterns in meaningless features and then to miss the true information.

The obvious thing about the chart on the top is that the price on it starts at the bottom left hand corner and goes to the top right hand corner.

It's going to be two years soon after this thread started and I still don't know exactly what the "Obvious" is and WHY the Obvious is not so obvious.
