i said that my last comments on GM were the last. Then you send me a chump pm. The problems i stated about GM were about GM.
That is part of the problem with some folks they only worry about the price of a stock and not the price to a society from corporate execs actions. Then faced with tough choices they refer to any dissenters as a "SOCIALIST" because others care about the Big picture.

The guy that used to live across the street from me worked for GM for at least 15 years. He got laid off permanently. At 85% salary.
How cool is that? Never have to work again and still getting 85% of your salary till you hit retirement.
I just don't understand how GM can do that and still stay profitable. I am sure that would never have happened if the UAW wasn't there.
I know unions serve a purpose. I worked two jobs that had unions. They were paper unions. Never did anything for me. How is a company supposed to restructure if they are falling behind? How are they supposed to stay profitable if they have to pay laid off workers 85% salary?
the only car that is decent at GM is the Z06, all their other products just can't generate the "reasoning" for increasing sales --- even the CTS-V has a hideous interior.
if your cars do not generate excitement and a good "reasoning" for purchase then your company is toast!

What a class act...I take an off-topic subject off the thread and this is where he goes with it. The greed you speak of is not mine, it is the unions. They created this problem by not negotiating their benefits earlier.
I agree that there should be a minimum standard national healthcare program...but it would have to incorporate a disincentive for people to go to the doctors office. GM's healthcare plan allowed employees to go to the doctor and run up a $150/hr doctor bill everytime they had a headache or an upset stomach. Multiply that by the average family of four and you have a big long-term problem.
I don't waste my time listening to Rush, Franken, CNN, FOX News, or CNBC, MSNBC.... My positions are mine, not someone else's. You would be suprised what you could learn if you opened a book and learned to evaluate hard facts, and not the emotional pleas of desperate persons.
There is a three-tier system in the United States, and there is freedom to advance. Even if we ended up with a two-class system in the USA, we would still be able to own property and would not be shoe-horned into living spaces with a dozen other people. Women are given much more liberty in the USA and as much as our education system could improve, it's still better than elsewhere...That's why foreigners send their children here to get an education. If you only understood the ends people will go to in order to come to the United States you might appreciate your freedoms...like investing in the FINEST markets the world has to offer.
SO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF! I don't care if you agree with me, or not... I side with the US economy and think GM should file BK and cut their ties with the UAW. Let the chips fall!
Oh, and look at the headlines...GM Europe. Put your money where your mouth is and let's see what side of the market you take on GM.

that is some good stuff big hog, good stuff! who cares about relative competitive advantage? let's just pay the workers what they DESERVE, and ignore the economics! workers need big healthcare in case they get sick, big pensions for when they retire, big vacations and big comp to enjoy the life they deserve! and gm should be able to charge a reasonable price for a car, regardless of quality, so they can support those workers! and if the market won't support that price, than just add tariffs! and tax those greedy do nothing execs! go man go!

bankruptcy as an option, so if they are sacked, new management may rethink its
options. "We are raising our 2-year GM bankruptcy risk to 40% from 30%," BofA

ths simplest explanation to that is they make absolute shit period. latest models have been stolen out of europe and australia (gto), unfortunately US engineers cant design shit.
