If you have to ask...
you're less than observant
you're less than observant
debate away. i like a good debate. you think you have new ideas about old superstitions?Quote from bkveen3:
Are you only capable of quoting other peoples ideas? Einstein may not have believed in a personal God but he had no question that the universe was created by a higher power.
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings. "
Albert Einstein
I don't understand why atheists tend to be the most closed minded of people. I love to debate theology and discuss new ideas. Atheists only enjoy it if you agree with them. Isn't that the reason you give for disliking people who believe in God?
Quote from bkveen3:
I just wanted to make an amendment to my post above. People like you are great. We don't have to agree but the ability to respect other peoples opinions is key. I like your approach.
Quote from traderNik:
The simple, inescapable fact is this: more death, despair, heartache, butchery and outright evil has been the doing of those who Believe in God than any other polity in the history of human civilization. Religious Believers are the largest group of judgmental, cruel-hearted, dogmatic people who have ever organized and shared their ideas.
The resident Spaghetti Monster types will chime in and assert that this is not the case. Assertion is all these people have since proofs mean nothing to them, in any aspect of their lives. As Wallet says, they don't ask 'why'. They just believe. In the mind of a Believer, if the right person says it's true, it's true.
Can you imagine living your life in this way? No, neither can I. That's why it's stunning to consider how many people around here are weak-minded enough to do so.
