Why can't I wake up earlier to trade?

Regular moderate exercise works best for me as far as getting to sleep. Waking up in the middle of the night and having a hard time getting back to sleep is more common problem for me. Could be stress i think. I have hypnosis/relaxation tapes i'll listen to if i can't fall back asleep after awhile.

They're cheap and downloadable. i have the Beyond limitations mp3. i see there's one on sleep. let me know if you end up trying it.

As my doctor explained to me, the 2 types of recognised insomnia are difficulty falling asleep and inability to sleep for at least a minimum required period.

Like you, I usually have no problem falling asleep. When I have insomnia I wake up after 2 or 3 hours, my mind starts racing and kiss sleep goodbye.

Used to be really stressed out, now I just accept it, start reading and when I get hungry go downstairs and have a snack. No point adding stress to insomnia.

Problem is after 3 or 4 days of 2 -3 hours sleep, I suddenly find I can't keep my eyes open during market hours. Need a 30 minute nap before I can function.

I've started recording to see if there is a pattern ( typical trader :) ) so far appears random.

I live in the West Coast, and always wake up late. The one day this week when it was loud outside, I woke up early, and had a perfect trade. After Wed, I also did not feel like trading, since I had no losses and was scared of giving my profit back.

Once you get up in the morning how do you feel?
------- refreshed
------- still tired

Do you have OK energy in the morning and it fade as the day goes on?

Do you feel tired and just worn out in the afternoon even if you have had enough rest in the night before?

I think there is something going on upstairs that you need to deal with.

The first step with any problem is realizing there is a problem and acknowledging it.

Are you really tired or is it easier to sleep in not have to deal with the stress of trading, get up late, look at the chart and see all of the opportunity you missed and say to yourself if I only got up earlier look at how much money I could have made.

Whats your age? Have you had a physical recently? Eliminate the physical side of it first.

How bad do want trading to work for you ? What are you willing to change? Be honest with yourself.

I can top your situation. I am in Hawaii my day starts @ 3:00 AM. Yee haw.

lol, i used to live in CA and it was terrible. now in europe, trading day starts at 2PM :D

In Asia and trading day starts at 8pm. PARADISO!

I actually spring out of bed in the afternoon eager to face the day.

Know thyself.

Reminds me of a friend of mine that claims he wants to be a trader. I just tell him he doesn't want it bad enough. Gotta burn the boats eventually.

I feel Ok when I wake up, later in the day I feel bad since I think I have Sinusitis again, and may need antibiotics.

When I see trades I missed during the day, I am talking about trades based on my setup, not just random movements up or down. When I see that I could have made money based on my setup, it gives me more confidence that the setup works. Obviously, its not perfect, I do see spikes every once in awhile that would have hit my stops.

interesting or disturbing reading will keep you up.
counting sheep is more useful. climbing up the fence is tiring for sheep, counting them as they climb may help you to sleep.
