Regular moderate exercise works best for me as far as getting to sleep. Waking up in the middle of the night and having a hard time getting back to sleep is more common problem for me. Could be stress i think. I have hypnosis/relaxation tapes i'll listen to if i can't fall back asleep after awhile.
They're cheap and downloadable. i have the Beyond limitations mp3. i see there's one on sleep. let me know if you end up trying it.

As my doctor explained to me, the 2 types of recognised insomnia are difficulty falling asleep and inability to sleep for at least a minimum required period.
Like you, I usually have no problem falling asleep. When I have insomnia I wake up after 2 or 3 hours, my mind starts racing and kiss sleep goodbye.
Used to be really stressed out, now I just accept it, start reading and when I get hungry go downstairs and have a snack. No point adding stress to insomnia.
Problem is after 3 or 4 days of 2 -3 hours sleep, I suddenly find I can't keep my eyes open during market hours. Need a 30 minute nap before I can function.
I've started recording to see if there is a pattern ( typical trader
) so far appears random.
