Why are you trying to achieve the impossible?

Life threatening illnesses… That really complicates things. For me that kind of thing is a big part of why I trade. Illnesses made so one of the few things I might be able to accomplish in my life is something via the computer. I do trading in particular because it is something that few are successful at. I want… need… to prove my functioning in spite of the illness. It’s complicated. I do the challenge of trading so that I can prove the illness does not define me.

On another track, I have a relative who I observed do a significant crime. I didn’t realize it, but after that he sabotaged many things in my life – with the goal of nobody believing anything I would say. Think Shakespearian tragedies. Betrayal. Friends would suddenly drop me. Lost two jobs and an occupation before I realized what was happening. The guy was sly and always got other people to act for him. Enough about that. Time has gone by and this whole thing is not an issue anymore. But part of why I trade is that I have enough money to do so, and ain’t’ nobody can sabotage this except myself. …So mastering self-sabotage as a trader has experiential meaning and motivation for me.

So I trade because it is hard. I trade because the market is what it is and even someone as politically connected and powerful as the guy talked about above… I can’t be particularly singled out and mistreated. This is a reason to trade …and is the opposite of so many who think the market knows exactly what they individually do and tricks them out of their money.

But as in the quote from Gaussian, It is also fun. It has taken me years …I am good at this.
Yep, we grow by doing things that are hard, by challenging ourselves. So many fail at this not because trading is hard (which it is) but because they are weak, lack work ethic, and resort to excuses and external blame rather than do the things both technical and personal to succeed. Many professions are "hard" but unlike trading, many have barriers to entry and significant hurdles to clear prior to having the opportunity to perform in the profession.

I agree totally... and trading successfully does go with increased self knowledge and growth.

And there are few barriers to trading other than getting one's self out of the way. As RedNeck put it once.

Wish Redneck was still around.

You are not the first to fall on your face, what happens next defines your character.

and guess what..NOTHING will happen next, things will stay put..

The title is "why are you trying to achieve the impossible?"

Great goals sometimes require achieving what others might say are impossible.

Overwhelming odds fall away with faith and the creator. "Who shall stand against me if God is with me?"

According to some surveys, 40% of Americans think global warming is not an issue because:
"...40% of the population say it can't be a problem because of the Second Coming."

Great goals are good, but i think in terms of great goals aquarian1 talked about and global warming, and whatever...
God helps those who help themselves.

I had the peculiar experience this week of hearing my neighbors wiener dog barking along with some weird sounds so I went to check it out. Turns out 5 Harris hawks (these are raptors that hunt in packs) were about 1 -2 minutes from picking her up for lunch. These birds have a 40 inch wingspan. There claws are as large as my hand. One was circling overhead, the other 4 were in the bottom branches of trees and about 6 - 8 feet off the ground... in a circle around the dog who saw them and was backed up against the rear fence barking at them.
So I walk in and pick up the dog, thinking the raptors will back off. Ohhhh, as I was leaving one of the birds was about 4 feet from me hanging on the lowest branch of a tree... about level eye to eye with me. That bird was mad. And while he didn't let go of the tree he came at me more than backed away. I wasn't really frightened until I was several feet away. IF they had ganged up on me, they would have done some real damage. And they could have.
To relieve the shock of how close the call was...
Humor prevailed.
You know how people misunderstand the bible? No wonder there are so many different POV's.
It is possible that Jesus said the Raptor was coming, not the rapture? OF course! It makes sense... all those angels with big wings... and they can have claws for feet if they want.
Jesus said something about going to prepare a "place" for you... ah... a place mat? Like for a meal?? So when Jesus said that you were going to "abide" with him forever ... was he rubbing a circular motion over his stomach? Yum yum.
While I say the above in good or bad humor,
on a serious note... if people try to push God and make the rapture (second coming) happen -- God has never liked that. IMO. Think Rupture not rapture.
That's about all I have to say about this. Shitting our world is not a great goal, expecting God to do a miracle.
Which doesn't have a lot to do with what aquarian1 said... but I had just read the article about global warming...
...and can still feel the 'mad' from that big bird within arms reach.

Practicalities also referred to as the real world.

A lot of traders fail because they ignore the most important thing in trading. That is risk management. It does not matter if you have $1,000 or $120 million like Option Sellers. Remember that? Lots of examples of rogue traders who were left to their devices and again, no risk management causing their companies to go under or suffer huge losses. If you lose all your monies and blow up your account, it is game over. What are you going to trade with?

Part of the reason for blowing up is risk management. A much bigger part is psychology. Getting an understanding and grip on your own mindset.
