According to some surveys, 40% of Americans think global warming is not an issue because:
"...40% of the population say it can't be a problem
because of the Second Coming."
Great goals are good, but i think in terms of great goals aquarian1 talked about and global warming, and whatever...
God helps those who help themselves.
I had the peculiar experience this week of hearing my neighbors wiener dog barking along with some weird sounds so I went to check it out. Turns out 5 Harris hawks (these are raptors that hunt in packs) were about 1 -2 minutes from picking her up for lunch. These birds have a 40 inch wingspan. There claws are as large as my hand. One was circling overhead, the other 4 were in the bottom branches of trees and about 6 - 8 feet off the ground... in a circle around the dog who saw them and was backed up against the rear fence barking at them.
So I walk in and pick up the dog, thinking the raptors will back off. Ohhhh, as I was leaving one of the birds was about 4 feet from me hanging on the lowest branch of a tree... about level eye to eye with me. That bird was mad. And while he didn't let go of the tree he came at me more than backed away. I wasn't really frightened until I was several feet away. IF they had ganged up on me, they would have done some real damage. And they could have.
To relieve the shock of how close the call was...
Humor prevailed.
You know how people misunderstand the bible? No wonder there are so many different POV's.
It is possible that Jesus said the Raptor was coming, not the rapture? OF course! It makes sense... all those angels with big wings... and they can have claws for feet if they want.
Jesus said something about going to prepare a "place" for you... ah... a place mat? Like for a meal?? So when Jesus said that you were going to "abide" with him forever ... was he rubbing a circular motion over his stomach? Yum yum.
While I say the above in good or bad humor,
on a serious note... if people try to push God and make the rapture (second coming) happen -- God has never liked that. IMO. Think Rupture not rapture.
That's about all I have to say about this. Shitting our world is not a great goal, expecting God to do a miracle.
Which doesn't have a lot to do with what aquarian1 said... but I had just read the article about global warming...
...and can still feel the 'mad' from that big bird within arms reach.
