Darrell Brooks has an active warrant in Nevada for violating the state's sex crime law, authorities say
Two separate judges freed him on low-cost bail, records show. First for $500 in February after allegedly shooting at his nephew the previous summer and again for $1,000 earlier this month after a woman accused him of punching her and running her over with the same SUV that allegedly plowed through Waukesha’s Christmas parade, killing five and injuring 48.
Brooks, who has battery charges and firearms offenses dating back to 1999, was convicted of statutory sexual seduction, a felony, in 2006 of after having sex with a 15-year-old girl in Nevada. She became pregnant. He received three years of probation and became a registered sex offender.
Then in 2016, Nevada authorities charged him again with violating the state’s sex crime laws – and he allegedly skipped bail and fled the region. He is still the subject of an active warrant in connection with that case, authorities there said, and they believed him to be in Wisconsin but had no actionable intelligence about his whereabouts.
But despite finding himself in custody in Wisconsin twice after that, he managed to avoid being turned over to Nevada investigators and reobtained his freedom both times before Waukesha police captured him Sunday evening following the deadly parade attack.

Police reasoning is all BS. Nothing more. How can you say initially, that someone was chasing him? I think he probably, told the police yet, the video tape shows no one following him in another vehicle? So, the so called conspiracy he was supposed to have an accomplice is utter BS. Now, if they had multiple cars running down people then, I would believe it. Also, he was all alone in his SUV. He had maybe, 3 blocks before he hit any of the parade participants so, can have stopped easily on time and not hit anyone. Of course, police had to give a reason no matter how dumb it was. My educated guess is someone higher up, the mayor, governor or someone else in high places put the pressure on the police chief to hold the information. What is their reason? Who knows? Maybe, this guy knows something damaging to higher up politicians?
If our morning paper in Toronto had an extensive story about the suspect and a picture well there is no way any part of this story is hidden.

Seriously,I just think it's because of the current state of a myriad of factors. And to top them off with Wisconsin to boot, in light of the last 2 weeks. Everyone has their guard up bigtime. One slip of the tongue and a high paying, highly esteemed, lifetime career is toast.
They knew who this guy was before he hit hit anyone. The police scanner transcripts/audio are out there. He was being pursued before he even entered the downtown area.
Ah that little pause until they are uploaded with their opinions on this once Tugger and others work out how they want to spin it.
