I believe this stat is unchallenged, still widely accepted.
Couple more stats:
Blacks % in sports:
NFL...71%
NBA...73%
There is no doubt that blacks dominate in the U.S. two most violent sports requiring probably the most exertion with agility.
Possibly, before anyone commits a violent crime, they need the confidence that they can dominate almost anyone else in one on one combat.
Next biggest possible contributor is cultural radicalization.
Black on black crime is high partly because of the culture of respect. In such cultures, you dare not make extended eye contact, or even any at all. Or you dare not tell someone what to do. And any number of social minefields almost impossible to negotiate.
Also, the fact that 90% are culturally influenced by the Democrat party probably contributes to the 50% number.
The culture of music, and how it can get people focused on fronting an image which requires more fast cash than most young men are able to raise in a regular job...is also a factor.
Finally, black on white crime is high because of culturally reinforced racism, which is probably the fastest growing factor in the progress of cultural radicalization.
If you took all US blacks and exchanged them for African blacks from almost any primarily black African nation, that 50% number might actually go down to 6%-10% simply because the primary factors are cultural, and I think Denzel Washington has stated as much. Cultural rather than racial. African blacks are actually generally less racist against whites and have a less lethal music culture.
If blacks do have a racial (rather than cultural) tendency toward higher per capita violent crime, it could be for the same reason more men commit violent crime than women. It has something to do with testosterone and ego, factors that help blacks dominate in the top two violent sports.
Back in the sixties, Charles Manson was heavily influenced by a narrative of a war between blacks and whites...and got his group to follow him into the desert to look for a cave in which to hide while the war was fought. Crazy!
Today, it's the Democrat party stoking the fires of racism through it's identity politics...so crazy it makes Charles Manson look like a Boy Scout. I myself fell victim to black on white crime due to these politics.
No, the media is not over reporting disproportionally. If anything it's the other way around. One way you can know if a suspect is black is if the media avoids naming the perps race. This is even more pronounced in Europe.
There is a YouTube channel, AK Nation, a black man who covers all this, over and over. His entire channel is devoted to covering violent black crime in the news. He claims he only covers a fraction of what comes to his attention and this keeps him busy with daily content of the most bizarre cases. He wants a solution as much as any of us but finds himself at a loss to really find one. Even he speculates about the frontal cortex. One thing for sure, I see a tendency among blacks to take matters into there own hands, as if they had never heard of 911.
Among first world nations no nation has the crime,black crime, gun etc violence that The US has.The problem isn't blacks,because blacks born and raised in countries like Canada,UK, France etc aren't doing this at the same rate US blacks are.The problem is US republican polices that put millions of guns on the streets and republican economic polices like consonantly giving tax cuts to the rich and increased military spending rather than on education and social programs that would bring the wealth inequality,poverty etc problems in The US.Once a black person in The US has a felony most are destined for a life of crime due to the "have you every been convicted of a crime? " question on nearly every job application.
Most black crime in The US is due to being poor,uneducated and having easy access to guns.

As a sports fanatic myself...the most common ethnicity in boxing are WHITE boxers @ 60.7%.
The below graph represents America alone but if it was globally...White participation in boxing is even higher.
I have another graph that I misplaced but it showed African Americans making the most gains in boxing than any other ethnicity group. I've done some boxing myself but the Black fighters and the Asian fighters were always much better in the AAU competition.
I outgrew the sport of boxing and concentrated on two other sports that I was much better at...rowing and judo. The most famous boxer for my ethnicity is Virgil “Quicksilver” Hill (1/2 Indigenous American) and he resides today in North Dakota.
My old man would take me and my brothers up to North Dakota to watch four of his fights and then my old man took our entire family to France to watch him fight while on our way to a family reunion in France...a lot of military officers were in attendance from the United States and France.
With that said, Hispanics have a more "interest" in Boxing than any other ethnicity group. Whenever I went to boxing championships...Hispanic fans seem to outnumber all other ethnicity groups.
Statistically...65.0% of all boxers came from North America, 18.3% from European countries, and 10.5% from elsewhere. Of these boxers, 52.7% were white and 47.3% non-white...a little different than the stats I stated that Whites dominated the sport of boxing.
Peurto Rico has the most boxing champions as of Dec 3, 2019. Yet, the most common stereotype in boxing still exists today that Mexican and Chicano boxers are the best in the world.
Strangely, a statistic that I don't understand...China and India have the most people participating in the sport of pro boxing and are listed in many statistics (e.g. most punches thrown) as having the best statistics.
Last of all, America has a gun problem. If we can solve that, we'll have similar statistics as other countries with low violent crimes without all the racial finger pointing bullshit.
A great deal of the illegal activity associated with gun violence happens long before anyone pulls a trigger. And as this data shows, guns very often flow from white communities into Black ones.

P.S. Some would argue that Rugby is the most violent and the most dangerous sport in America. Guess which ethnicity group dominates Rugby ???

Yes i've suggested it's mainly cultural to the US rather than racial. However, if there is a racial component, it probably is similar to why more men commit violent crimes than women: physical dominance laced with extra testosterone and ego (which enables them to dominate in the two top violent sports). Black women, with ego, but without the physical dominance, rely more on numbers (gangs of other women) and instigating black men to do violent crimes for them. The fifteen year old boy who stalked and hit me from behind, for example, was instigated by older black girls within the larger, segregated, gang/group he was running with. When i approached the group, i could feel the excess hatred coming from the girls.
I blamed the Democrat party, in part, because they had managed to capture the minds/votes of 90+% of blacks for some decades now. Thomas Sowell better explains how, what are mainly Democrat policies, has wrecked the black family, and made the population poorer. But, always interested in how you think Republican policies contribute to that. Just be sure that your hatred of conservatives does not skew your conclusions and contribute to stoking the cultural hatred within blacks toward those who are mainly conservative (whites), making the situation what it is, or worse.
