That's why I specifically asked whether this is another form of racial profiling. No doubt, crimes are committed across all race spectrum, but the majority of reported crimes seems to be disproportionately black.
BTW I'm specifically talking about the crimes in the US.
There is a lot of profiling and it is disproportionately black in the United States. For example, the latest
U.S. Census 2021 shows individuals as African Americans represent
13.6% of the U.S. population versus the statement of 6% as stated by username
@ipatent
I do understand what ipatent is saying even though his percentages are incorrect.
Yet, as I mentioned in my prior message...I think it depends on your location and the news source you're watching. As an example, whenever I pay any attention to the TV news...it does talk about
murders more often than not even though at the time of the news story the criminal has not been arrested nor identified.
In contrast, 68.2 percent of violent crimes reported to law enforcement...
Robbery offenses accounted for 22.3 percent of violent crime offenses; rape (legacy definition) accounted for 8.2 percent, and murder accounted for 1.4 percent.
- Simply, 1.4 percent that involved murders are accounting for most of today's news stories. That's an amazing discrepancy in the news media.
In addition, the FBI website shows specific stats for different crime categories...murders and manslaughters @ 51.2% for African Americans followed by 45.8% for Whites (red highlight in below image). Not shown below but there are other statistics...e.g. African Americans are 7x more likely convicted and then exonerated of a serious crime.
I haven't done the math but it does change the above 51.2%.
Yet, what really caught my eye was the "other crimes that are dominated by Whites...2 to 1 (blue highlight in below image) with the exception of robbery.
Now back to the
location, location, and location that I mention...that 2 to 1 (highlighted above in blue) fits what I typically saw in the United States news stories...it was the main reason why I specifically identified the states I was traveling but overall murders that accounted only 1.4% were the main news story night after night...giving me the impression that murders were the most common crime when in fact it was not.
- Another interesting statistic, most violent crimes are done during the day but the media...3 to 1 of their violent crime news stories involve crimes at night...creating an illusion that it's safer during the day than it is at night.

I looked further into the above statistics involving arrests versus those in prison. I came across another statistic while looking for info on crimes involving Indigenous Americans and Asian Americans considering they had close percentages to each other in some categories...
- “Assaults on white women by African-American men are a small minority of all sexual assaults in the United States, but they constitute half of the sexual assaults with eyewitness misidentifications that led to exoneration.”
- “African-American sexual assault exonerees received much longer prison sentences than white sexual assault exonerees, and they spent on average almost four-and-a-half years longer in prison before exoneration. It appears that innocent black sexual assault defendants receive harsher sentences than whites if they are convicted, and then face greater resistance to exoneration even in cases in which they are ultimately released.”
With that said, I'm not a big TV news story watcher. Thus, I mainly turn on the TV because I'm going to watch a movie or sport event unless I watch the news somewhere else. I'm just amazed by some people here at Elitetrader.com that are focused on ONE race directly or indirectly in most of their messages.
Crime is everywhere regardless of race. Those that are focusing on one race have an agenda
or they're just paranoid about those in their neighborhood/community and it becomes obvious when they continue targeting that one race in other situations (e.g. politics, academia)
not involving criminal activity.
