Who’s that rich Vietnamese guy in snazzy pants who gave $5 million to San Jose flood victims?

Immigration works, opens minds, uplifts us all...

Pretty sure we dont need to worry about vietnamese billionaires coming into the country, and living off the system, and causing problems, Im all for allowing any billionaire who wants to come to states being allowed in, or any millionaire, or any person with a degree from a prominent university, basically anyone who will add value, but thats not exactly what we are getting from the people sneaking across the border now is it?

It isnt difficult to get a visa in the states and or a tax payer ID, and live there provided you are actually going to pay taxes, i know, i did it for a couple years. Those are the people we (the western world) should be allowing in.

The european model of allowing any rag tag illiterate person who wants to come into the country with zero vetting is clearly failing.

if you read the article posted he emigrated at 31 and was sponsored IE he was not a billionaire at the time of his emigration, rather he was probably penniless.

He also did it legally. And he had a support network, (his church) he wasnt just a random running across the border, If you cant even be bothered to do the simplest paper work what are the odds you will become a productive member of society and start filling out tax forms? He also probably wasnt completely illiterate, like the majority of refugees from the middle east, sorry we have enough illiterate people here already we dont need to take on the rest of the worlds problems.

Also asian (chinese, vietnamese, Korean, etc.....) immigrants in general tend to integrate into society alot better than middle eastern muslims, Because they tend to actually appreciate our style of life, and western rules and laws, and freedoms.

We cant afford to just hollow out every single country in the middle east that is falling apart, and take them on in the western world, plus those countries seem to keep having much higher birth rates, so the cycle doesnt end, we are just slowly lowering our standard of living.

Your earlier point was, he was a billionaire at the time of emigration and was not mooching off the system, please let's not change the subject.

Yeah it appears he never did mooch off the system, something immigrants used to value, i said we should accept all the millionaires billionaires, and productive people who want to come, i stand by that, i think we should heavily vet anyone else, and they should have to have a support system in place, and not be allowed access to social programs, something that even ultra liberal "Canada" already does.

Also it says he came in 1973 and discovered a rare drug for blood diseases by 1980 so the odds that he hadnt already gotten a degree, or wasnt going to medschool is slim to none. He clearly had some kind of technical proficiency or was on his way to developing a technical proficiency. I agree he should have been allowed into the country, he was clearly qualified.

Please explain to me how allowing someone who is illiterate, even in there own language, who doesnt speak english benefits america? Especially when most of the jobs they used to get are currently being automated out of existence, what are the benefits?
