The perpetual question: can riches buy you happiness?

Someone once paid $1.3 million for a piece of paper .... that Albert Einstein wrote on it "A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness."

My parents said, "if you have your health, you have everything."

That is, perhaps, easier for people with health problems to understand; than young, healthy people. As children, we certainly didn't get it.

We have a friend, a retired airline pilot, who had a cerebral aneurysm. A tall and very handsome man.

It crippled him, put him in a wheelchair, impaired cognitive function, and he became very emotional and started crying nearly every time he tried to talk.

He was confused and seemed miserable part of the time, despite having a great wife to take care of him; and the money to provide everything that he needed. Other times, he regained clarity and joked and laughed with us.

I'd bet that he'd give everything to have his health back.
You and Van get it! I got a email from a former SP 500 Device maker Executive son(listed NYSE) in San Diego. The wife and husband killed themselves because they each came down with stomach cancer and dementia in their late 60s after he transitioned his replacement, cancer hits! What good is $500 million in cash-stock if you loose your health?

Do you need to sell your child in order for the rest of your family not to starve to death when you make minimum wage in California? I don't think so ...

Complaining about making $95K a year is just ridiculous, especially since you would have the opportunity to do something about it (education to get a better job, work harder to earn more, move ...) ...

People in third world countries have close to 0% odds of their life ever seriously improving for the better, they are lucky if they have something to eat every now and then. Yet here we are complaining about only making $95K.
I can live like a god in a California trailer park, give me $95k in Bishop,CA and I am a king! Hell Lone in Lone Pine or trout fishing in Bridgeport. If I had my health I would be a happy person, you won't get it until it's gone.

No money cannot buy happiness!!

However you can rent such a reasonable facsimile that you probably won't know the difference.
Then the neighbors find themselves late at night talking to a reporter ... saying but they seemed so happy. :D
