Who Is Don Bright?

Quote from Jachyra:

Actually you got it backwards... Bob Bright is a legend in the trading world... the guy is a math genius and started out as a card counter in the 70's in the Vegas casinos... once he got blacklisted on the Griffin Book (which is where all successful blackjack card counters end up) he took his millions and headed to the floor of the CBOT and turned his millions into tens of millions in the options markets.

Bob Bright and Eddie Franco started Bright Trading together in the early 80's but today I believe Eddie is no longer there and its basically a family run business. Back in the day when there was a Pacific Exchange, most of the traders who left the floor left for their Westwood Office... that office was filled with nothing but former floor guys.

They're not the cheapest place to trade, but as far as prop shops go, they're probably one of the best capitalized and most ethical around... if you're worried about whether or not you're prop shop is going to go out of business, not honor your redemption requests, or not return your capital contribution... then Bright Trading is for you... If you're looking for the cheapest commissions possible and a gazillion to 1 overnight leverage... Bright Trading is not for you.

Now ET is full of not just Bright haters... but trader haters in general... so don't listen to them... make up your own mind... next time you're in Vegas go to their office and have a look around... they have a pretty impressive two story building which they own outright... and they have tons of traders there who have traded with them for 10+ years... you don't find that very often.

As to the original question of the original poster... Don Bright is Bob's brother and handles most of the marketing and communication with their traders. He's also a pretty good trader himself... although not legendary like Bob. He also talks a lot more than Bob :)

I didn't get it backwards. I traded in the bright la jolla office in 95 or 96. Jack ran it. Eddie came out to visit while I was there.

I was with Bright a while back and that experience taught me that I needed to look at many different asset classes and NOT just stock scalping or pairs trade.

Having many options to execute your plan is key to surviving this business and I could not do that at Bright.

Thanks for opening my eyes to what real trading is and you will not see that at any Bright offices...just mouse clicking newbies racking up commish for the Brothers.

Don Bright laughs at a few of my jokes, wish more people did, then I could get a real job telling jokes.

You do bring some fun to this site, and you do crack me up, LOL.

Hey, Don. Would you hire me? I'm loyal, easily trainable, honest to a fault. I take instruction well and come from good stock.

My god, I'm a cocker spaniel.

Never mind.

My dog Trader might get jealous.,

And, yes, you also crack me up...keep up the good humor around this place, LOL.

So anyway, Don and two of friends are having drinks, and they have their dogs with them.

Don's accountant friend points out his dog, Ledger, can actually count. Ledger, on command, stacks four piles of five biscuits, and taps out "20" with his paw.

His other buddy, a gourmet chef, has his dog, Bistro, break his biscuits, whip up a pate, and present them as a hor dourve.

Don, not to be outdone, has Trader screw the other two dogs, and eat all the biscuits.

** I just didn't want to be left out of the "Beat up Don " club. I just don't know what to beat him up about. But I'm a joiner, and didn't want to be left out.

Thank me later, Don.

Who Is Don Bright?

On this stupid ass forum, he represents 1 per cent of the posters.

What do I mean by that?

He ACTUALLY makes his livelihood from this thing called TRADING.

"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough."

Don Bright ...

great movie Don ;o)
