Which are the news release events that day traders should be aware and stay out?

Today's non-farm payrolls news release caused stock indices to crash within seconds. There is no time for day traders to react. Stops are useless. I myself could have been killed if I happen to hold a huge day-trading position during the news release. I'm new to day trading. This is scary.

How do elite day traders here manage this risk? Is there a website that informs day traders about the important news release of the day so that they can stay out of the market before the news is released?

There are many news release events out there. I'm referring to those which can cause stock indices to gap up/down huge and cause financial devastation to day traders.

I am using Trading View. Does trading view provide a good calendar for this kind of news release?

There is no need to avoid them if you know how to trade them. Those big news events are the ones that give the biggest gains. If you really want to avoid them, the ones that I would avoid would be:

-NFP
-Fed rate announcement and meeting minutes
-Any important Powell speeches
-CPI (for now because inflation is a big thing but usually this one is harmless)

The rest are n big deal. The key is trade small. You said it yourself, you could've been "killed" if you hold a huge position during these news releases.

L88, Here is a list from a Bloomberg article. Note the dates the FOMC members are speaking. Ordinary scheduled announcements are pretty simple to avoid. However, the speaking engagements are harder. Sometimes nothing happens, but other times, something is said and it moves the market. Notice how many there are next week, and monitor it... Everyone is "Fed sensitive" right now.

There is probably a twitter feed on all things Fed.

From Bloomberg:

This is an overkill. If you go by this list, you won't be able to make any money as a trader. LOL You will be making the same returns term deposits. You might as well put all the money in term deposits.

Thanks for listing the more important news release.

There are some news calendars which are so comprehensive that the conservative trader can't trade on most days. I think knowing the important ones to avoid should be good enough.

I don't know how to trade them before the news release. Therefore, it's better to avoid them until news has been released. I do not have the ability to trade them before news release but probably some elite traders here can.
