When they find the real ET/aliens, is it going to be bullish or bearish for markets?

Do you see the opposite happening?

For what it's worth, I (remotely) led a software project a few months ago for a giant agricultural company in China. Odd technical requirements: must be able to run under Alibaba Cloud, except we couldn't gain access to the Chinese data centers. Once the Huawei stuff started happening they stopped asking me to come to China (I had refused earlier - too risky).

As for the rest of it, why would China's model work? If there is no alternative, and we are cattle/sheep for the elite, then we are likely to stay in line or be unpersoned.

which then maybe raises the question of if the ETs are so advanced, what 'incentives' do they have/are they gonna get to trade with us, if the tech advancements of the civilizations have such a wide gap

None! We are like the chimps in the jungle. Good for alien tourists and maybe meat, but otherwise not interesting.

If they are out there then they must have some belief about not messing with native populations, or they would've wiped us out already.

yeah, my theory is that 'they' - as in the ETs - would technically be the 1st to "reach out", bc even with SpaceX and Blue Origin's advances, etc, it still seems quite far off for them to actually have vehicles that travel light years/to the edge of known space though which then maybe raises the question of if the ETs are so advanced, what 'incentives' do they have/are they gonna get to trade with us, if the tech advancements of the civilizations have such a wide gap

Well maybe when their technology development is so far advanced that they wouldn't see any need to trade or barter with us in any way; they will just give it away to us as long as of course we don't pose any threat to their civilization in any way in *their* eyes, and they might have an emotional need for us instead of a material one, just like our pets or animals in the zoo or sanctuary to us. As soon as we become pests to them then it's a different story. So communication with them clearly and effectively our intentions will be extremely important to us, to our survival that is. That is one advantage that we MAY have over the members of the rest of the animal kingdom that we have "such a wide gap in tech advancements of the civilizations" over here on earth, if they choose to listen and take it into account.

I'm very aware of what's happening there, but it's working in the sense that they've pacified their population, are rapidly becoming a major tech hub, and are somewhat successfully exporting their system/sphere of influence.

These shouldn't be used as criterias to evaluate whether a country's model works well or not in the first place. And I disagree that they have successfully exported their system/sphere of influence even somewhat. The very statement of yours that
The way they've applied cutting-edge technology to pacify, suppress, and unify their population is both amazing and frightening.
is proof of that. And there is really nothing "amazing" about how they "pacify, suppress, and unify their population". Any dictatorial regime based on violence can achieve that easily because we all fear death and pain, especially death and pain imposed on our loved ones.

It is a silly notion. The universe is simply too big for any ET to actually come into contact with us. Y'all been watching too many sci-fi movies. :-)

Exactly like I said before, you open shop there but you don't really want to live there, even before the Huawei s***.

Bleh. That whole "what-if" deal about aliens leans on the esoteric. Prolly shouldn't be in the trading section. But I digress.

It has potentially very large impact on the market so in "Trading" section it stays... :)
