Maybe we should do an audit and see whether he indeed lives a "carbon-neutral lifestyle." But so far I haven't seen any evidence that he doesn't. A big house means nothing.Quote from fhl:
The article states "Graciously, Gore tells consumers how to change their lives to curb their carbon-gobbling ways: Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, use a clothesline, drive a hybrid, use renewable energy, dramatically cut back on consumption. Better still, responsible global citizens can follow Gore's example, because, as he readily points out in his speeches, he lives a "carbon-neutral lifestyle." But if Al Gore is the world's role model for ecology, the planet is doomed."
Still want to hold to your absurd observation that a politician "never asks people to voluntarily change their ways?"
And if he believes that he can just persaude people to "voluntarily" switch to green energy, then he is being too naive. Very few good behaviors in our society are voluntary. The laws are there for a good reason.
My view of his argument is that he tries to promote a policy change.
