Part of your perception has to do with the way the media spins things. For example, they say someone is a "tax cheat". Who's cheating who? The government is cheating us.

People have gotten away with not paying taxes. See Aaron Russo's film "Freedom to Fascism."

Hey thanks for the FYI, I will keep them in mind if I find myself in that part of the world. On the plus side, Brazil is independent of Mid East Oil, a big plus. Plus I have heard the water is warm and beaches are nice.
