What is the average can a day trader manage and earn on wall street?

I'm always fascinated if I read about guys making these kind of money from trading. Every time I'm wondering how the hell are pulling these guys that kind of money from the market. I can't imagine making 100k a month with the way I trade short of having huge positions. But it always pushes me to rethink the way I trade and I guess one simply have to trade oneself into these kind of money.

Nevertheless, knowing that there are traders out there earning seriousness money is always a motivation for me.

I have been in professional risk mgmt for a long time and I have seen independent traders making that kind of money. Yes I know some too, unfortunately I am not one of them :-)

But I am kind of new to retail land. What exactly is a day trader? Is a systematic statistical guy who holds intra day a day trader, hft market markers, is it only reserved for non systematic technical analysis guys??

What I do know is that they are very well capitalized.

Then maybe you can explain to me why most every hedge fund trader holds positions overnight rather than purely trading intraday. If day trading is so profitable why is the same approach rarely if ever employed at hedge funds? The reason, I can assure you, is certainly not only because hedge funds must trade larger positions with more market impact in order to push the needle on their return on AUM.

Are you seriously suggesting that there is no difference whether the position is 50m or 500mm? I guarantee you that execution for very large positions is very different. There's a reason they're called whales and daytraders are just small fish.

And good hedge funds make 12%per year, i can make and have made 12% in a day.

He's an idiot posting with 2 id's

However you look at it, it would be a disaster for a hedge fund to have a performance like yours of: turning $10300 into $7600 or turning $700 into $7600.

You have neither 50m or 500m, why should it be a concern ? Thus far we don't even know if you know how to trade $5.
