What has Obama done???

Quote from Lucrum:

That abortion IS murder. Regardless of the law or what the spineless bleeding hearts choose to call it just so they can live with themselves.

Not that I oppose it mind you.

I'm too way pragmatic for that.

Abortion of a fetus is not murder

Thanks for clarifying that you think its murder but don't oppose

Excellent, I also enjoy these discussions. So let's get back to the debate, shall we?

Please post your data set that you argue reinforces your point that the President has returned us to fiscal discipline.

RCG, are you going to post some data to support your viewpoint?

Run, RCG, run!! Tsing is getting out the Kryptonite.

Brother Lukie, why is it that you say you do not oppose abortion if you believe that abortion is murder?

My ET brethren, in the interest of sanity, please refrain from using the terms "Obama" and "fiscal discipline" in the same sentence.

Thanks.

I don't know what the kryptonite is (apart from the superman reference) but RCG can be relied on to engage (at least with me). He's not a coward like Ricter or AK that runs from the thread when facts are presented.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

Thomas Jefferson, as you know, was one of the Founding Fathers. All of your examples are irrelevant (at least to this argument), because all I was trying to prove was that the separation of church and state was supported by the original conservatives - those who founded the country.

Was the reference to God removed from every instance? No, and that does not mean that there was no separation of church and state. Separation of church and state simply means there is no religion that influences government responsibility or action, and no government regulation on religious rights.

The fact that we are a Christian country - founded as such and continued to be centered on such does not mean we are run by religious edicts. Phrases like "In God We Trust" on the currency do not prove your point. They simply acknowledge that we are a nation that is founded on a religion, not governed by it. You need to get a little deeper into the concept. [/B]

+1 I would only disagree that, imo, we were not founded on a religion but by the religious. the Constitution was much more influenced by philosophy than organized religion.

Couple more quotes to reinforce the reality that America is not, never was, and was never intended to be a theocracy:

"What influence, in fact, have ecclesiastical establishments had on Civil Society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the civil authority; in many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny; in no instance have they been seen the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty may have found an established Clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just Government, instituted to secure and perpetuate it, needs them not."

"Every new & successful example therefore of a perfect separation between ecclesiastical and civil matters, is of importance... Religion & Govt. will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together..."

- James Madison "Father of the Constitution"

Facts are to liberals like Kryptonite is to Superman

I disagree. RCG runs from the facts just like the other liberals. It happens quite regularly if you watch him. (Unless he is in one of his oblivious states) Just as it seems he has now run away at your mere mention of facts.

I'm sure he just had to run out to pick up some clean nylons for his night shift tonight. :D
