What do you guy's do to prevent tilting?

Scatman's a good dude. He's helped a lot of traders here on ET.

I'm not convinced. He's too predictable. Very good chance he's a chat bot. Look at my post here:

You wanna see someone go on tilt really fast... call out @Scataphagos for being an idiot and then watch the tears run down his face.

AHAHAHAHAH, see... too funny!

I predicted, in real-time, that @Scataphagos would block the user. And... it actually happened with time left for me to edit my post and add the last line that says: "AHAHAHAHAH, see... too funny!". Look one post up from there for the context.

Just trying to call balls and strikes here; no offense. Bet you $50 I can sign in with a new account and get him to block me inside of 1 week. Admins can't change his program though!

Not to mention, why would the account be named for a human dung eater... besides as a tongue in cheek joke by the bot author/admin? It just doesn't add up.

surprised that he couldn't connect the dots between poker and trading

Exactly! That's the type of connection a bot would just plain old miss... but a human would probably understand, maybe not agree with completely, but understand, almost instantly.

I was wondering what you guy's all are doing to preventing yourself from tilting, or from trowing the trading plan and risk management rules overboard during a tilt?

I myself find it very difficult to stick to my plan once I have a few bad trades, I am very vulnerable to tilting and revenge trading even though I know i have a solid system with statistics to back it.

Once I have a few bad trades in the beginning of the day I start doubting, deviate from the system and when that goes wrong it only get worse resulting in (very) bad losses.

What I am currently trying to do is entering a trade based on the signals my trading system gives me, set the stops and targets accordingly and leave it at that, don't touch it again unless my system gives me a reverse signal.

I am thinking about getting a darts board to hang near my desk, so I can get up from my desk and focus on other things while in that trade instead of focusing on everything that could go wrong.

I bet there are a lot of you out there who (have) struggle(d) with the same issue and I am hoping you are willing to share some of the things that work for you.
What is your win rate? Your win rate is correlated with normal losing streak that you will experience. This is good article.

If you are aware what is normal losing streak for your system but experience the tilting, there are only two possible things that may cause that.
  1. Large position size per trade.
  2. Desire to be right (win)

If the cause is #2, it will require time to shift your mentality especially if the system has low win rate (and large reward-to-risk ratio). Trading mentality contradicts other professions mentality which is being right.
