....independent organizations have no power of legislation, crime or punishments, so than other than attempt to influence the people of the pols, what good can they do?
Is there any reason why the practice of lobby groups spending millions on peddling influence still exists? Why hasn't it been outlawed entirely?
Do you think that because Jack Abramoff went to prison, that the practice of illegal lobby activity has stopped as a result of his singular punishment?
If not, then crime does indeed pay...look at those who make millions of dollars with white collar crime, spend a few years doing easy time, then retire to their ill gotten fortunes....this acts as a deterrent against corporations promoting the illegal actions for corporate lobby agents and groups?
If anything thing they demonstrate to the people that white collar crime generally does pay, and pay handsomely...

The poor economy seems to be doing a fairly good job of handling illegal immigration. People simply come here for the same reason every else has always come here, there are jobs. And America has been built on slavery and cheap labor, be they African Americans, Italians, Irish or Hispanic.
