As far as the prop firms go, I agree the traders should at least shower, and look clean as they are around other people in public, and its a matter of self respect and respect for others.

I wouldn't see anything wrong with them coming in wearing clean jeans, a golf shirt, and decent (at least clean) shoes.

I doubt anybody goes for prop because of prestige or work environment. Perhaps working with Cruise's look alikes would be fun but I never had the chance nor a desire. Also I am not gay so triavial things like the ones u mentioned are just that - trivial.
 
Well, I'm not gay but it may be something you wish to consider since if you represent the overweight, dirty slob, you are not going to have much of a chance with the ladies.
