Like the man told me, there are two methods

The drip method and the bucket method

I don't like either

It seems to me the only way to get healthcare costs down to a respectable level is to eliminate health insurance for a time

So we started out with 30mm uninsured

Now its going to be more like 130mm

At some point people in good health and of sound mind and body and reasonable net worth make the decision that they would be better to just go naked

That in turn puts pressure on health care costs

I'll be more than happy to go 'naked' at age 59. Eat healthy, work out and know that you are in good shape and ask "why do I want to pay some astronomical premium for health insurance to subsidize others"?

Many areas that Obamacare is flawed .. one that is not discussed is that MANY people who now have pre-existing conditions brought those on themselves. Now, the problem is to PROVE that they did so. But take a look at the 67% of this country that is overweight or obese. A majority of this sub-group have health issues, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart ailments, etc. So I ask this .... if people CHOOSE to eat Whoppers, Big Macs, all you can eat buffets, etc. and CHOOSE to not exercise and may choose one or more of the following (smoke, abuse alcohol, use drugs) shouldn't they pay HIGHER rates than those who are focused on good health?

I'd actually like to see where people who are actively focused on their health get rebates rather than these damn subsidies based on income levels. Why reward people who are lazy?

Health insurance is confused and used interchangeably with health care

Heath insurance is purchased to protect my assets

It has nothing to do with my healthcare

Going naked won't work today where a curable disease or an accident would bankrupt most people. I don't know how to get to affordable health care from where we are today.

Just got off the phone with an acquaintance who is in the insurance business. He just met with a client who has never provided health insurance for the employees. 500+ employees in a cleaning buiness and the annual cost would be in the ballpark of $2.5 million he said. The head of the company was dumbfounded and said "we can't afford that". My friend said they could opt to pay the penalty/tax which would cost $1 million a year.

The monthly penalty is equal to $2,000 divided by 12, multiplied by the number of full-time employees employed during the applicable month, not counting the first 30 full-time employees.

Doing the above calculation give a little more than $83K/month in penalties nd that does come out to $1 million per year.

I was told the company may have to shut down since either outcome would be something that they can't afford. My friend says this will cause many companies (that formerly didn't offer health insurance) to close their doors. Only other option is to jack up what a company charges for their services, products, etc. to try to offset this new expense.

So we may see unemployment creep back up if people start losing more jobs after Odumbocare is fully implemented.

Most everyone realizes the problem with healthcare is the increasing costs of the services and products. ($100 Tylenol, $1k/day for semiprivate room with no heat and porous blankets, etc.) To say otherwise is disingenuous.

The discussions/arguments here and elsewhere are the increasing costs of insurance to subsidize those costs. Obamacare has not shown or proven it is effective or even attempting to address the rising costs.

I have a friend who owns a bunch of bars he is in the same position, since 2008 he has just barely been able to oull himself back into the black and hold onto his bars, and keep peoples jobs, he says if the mandate comes he will shut down 75% of his bars to get back under 50 employees cause the numbers are pretty much the same if he only holds on to his most profitable ones.

Liberals have no idea the disaster that is coming next year when the employer mandate rolls out, actually a few of them in washington do thats why they pushed the mandate back till after the election.

Not really, actually my life is pretty good, working for 3-4 hours a day making mid six figure living sure beats the hell out of pounding shingles into a roof and living in a camper,your life must have really took a wrong turn somewhere to end up like that, im just pointing out reality to chuckleheads like you who seem to cheer for obama no matter what kind of turd he lays on you.
