It is interesting to note that many of the replies to this Tweet state that no doctor would write like this - complete with grammar mistakes. Many are stating that the entire thing is fabricated and demanding that the supposed doctor be revealed to have any credibility.
The only reason the death rate (CFR) is going down in the U.S. is because the majority of cases in recent weeks are people under the age of 50.
For the month of June the CFR in the U,S. was just above 4.0%. This needs to be taken in context that most deaths typically occur 2 or 3 weeks beyond the infection.
Still having 4% of the people who test positive die is still a significant percentage. Similarly the hospitalization rate despite the average lower age has not dropped. Younger people are having significant complications from COVID-19.
The increase in testing has very little to do with the change in CFR (death rate); this is driven by age. It should be noted in most "hot spot" states that the percentage of positive results has increased rather than decreased as the number of tests rose in recent weeks.

Ah, well if Twitter users are saying it, then it must be true. As I stated, it is anecdotal. But given that there are lots of folks like you who will essentially declare the sky isn't blue as long as it continues the fear mongering, I'm not surprised.

So, if I follow you correctly, then we shouldn't put people who are sick with the virus into nursing homes where the old and infirm can catch the virus? And then, if presume to not do that, we can actually respond to a more accurate representation of the mortality rate and not shut the whole fucking country down because we didn't make the first error?
I mean, what could possibly be the downside to basing the mortality rate off of ONLY a population that is aged and infirm?

So the mortality CFR rate moved from 5.88% to about 4%. This lower CFR rate is primarily associated that most of the positive cases are younger in June. This is due to most of these people got infected via "re-opening" activities (going to bars, etc.) or from protest marches. The people involved in these activities are primarily from a young demographic.
I will agree with you that we should not put people who are sick with the virus into nursing or care homes. This was a tragic mistake in N.Y. and other states. Cuomo should have stepped up and accepted responsibility for this mistake saying "the buck stops here" - but he did not.
Even if you are young and have a lower risk of dying.... you don't want to catch COVID... it isn't just a mild flu for many young people and can leave you with long term health consequences.

This is the equivalent of saying that 80% of people only got mild polio cases so we should have let it run freely through society.
You do understand that we did not lockdown during polio right? By the way, polio was passed from person to person by not washing hands and touching your face/mouth etc. The disease passed in fecal matter. 70 to 80 percent had mild or no symptoms.---No lockdown.
