Weinstein Trading and Fading

A little bit of a more active day.

I had four trades and all went “ok”. I didn’t put any size on any of them and that limited the gains even though for the most part I received my target gains or near. DOW was disappointing though from being stopped out before making its move in my direction. That one could have been considerably better if I was more aggressive but I will wait until back in the green again for the month before doing so. stopped out on AMD also.

Strange day.

Stayed small size but did have a trade that was so good I wanted to double or more my size with it. AGO was a trade that two months ago I would have made 3-4K with but I only added an extra 200 shares to the trade. I think just about the whole chat room made money with this one. Lots of virtual high fives.

Normally I short a gap up like RINO but there where a couple of key factors that kept me from doing so. IB didn’t have shares available and the price vs the actual earnings seemed to suggest that it could climb after the open. I was very much wrong with this and expecting that it could fall at first I stayed small. Once it went to only a 10% increase I increased my stake (performance was way beyond expectations). I ended up covering some at just under 27 and it fell back down again and I worked it to mid 26s and put a stop loss in so that it would not turn into a loser (after the fade) and I was stopped out before its strong move to the HOD.

I had a couple of great setups but kept the size small

LNY gave me an overbought signal and it was a really perfect setup on the charts but the news was that management wanted to buyout the company and so I kept my fading spreads very wide and my size very small.

GNK was another good trade from overbought

PARD was a long fade that went nowhere so I just closed it out for a scratch

FRO was a gap up trade that went well for a small sized trade

EWT was a gap up that I took a stoploss with when I found an error in my entry price. Could have turned into a scratch but was not willing to find out when I did not know my odds of success. At least this was a mistake that was not expensive.

FSYS gave an overbought signal but I was stopped out before target was hit.

Three trades today

I was totally done trading about an hour after the opening bell. I have though been working on two new signals that appear to have promise. So far I have not traded either one but at the stage of recording the actions if I was trading them.
All trades today were very small size like all the trades lately

CSIQ was a gap up after a B8 overbought signal yesterday and worked out well.

DBRN gave me an overbought signal very near the opening bell and was just about perfect as my average sold was 21.50 and I made a full target gain. Few things about trading can compare to selling at the top and watching it quickly drop to your target.

AGO was another B8 overbought which started out as a gap up trade and moved a little higher to oversold intraday. This allowed me to add to my short and it worked out great

CHS was a gapup trade that worked ok, It would have been better to gain a full target with it but that was below the 15.00 point and I feared that it may hit 15 and bounce back up. the other factor was it was consolidating on the 10min chart and the 9MA was climbing which is a classic blast-off point to the upside. At the meeting of the bars with the 9MA it crashed down which I thought was interesting.

Received an oversold signal from the Stockfinder scanner and turned out to be a nice trade. Sold CGA within a few cents of the HOD and it very quickly fell to my target.

ETFC had take over chatter and I put on a small long trade with a tight stop that trailed the price. Ended up stopped out near BE

Playboy rumors of being bought out turned out to be just a tease. I shorted it with a trailing stop and was stopped out near BE

Pretty good day of trading but I missed one by a penny

Its not that uncommon for me to miss a trade by a penny or two as I try to find the tops and sometimes that means aiming to high. Today though I had an interesting one with MA. I put an offer in at 235.97 and watched it clime up past 235 and end up having a high of the day of 235.96 oh well

I did have some that worked out and I was hitting the tops too.

TSL was the only oversold that I had and that turned out great as I gained a little more than my full target. It kept falling afterwards so I could have made much more but glad to get what I did.

DKS was a long trade and worked out ok. I stayed small with it.

DCI was a gap up trade that I ended up scalping on its way up which lowered my risk but also lowered the gain. All in all a good trade though.

Good way to end the week

Nothing really big happened today as I once again kept my trading very small. I did enter a trade though that was based on a very old signal that I worked on years ago that I have since been working with again. I only traded 100 shares and endup closing it out due to the end of the day and not because of any pricing issue. Simply wanted to be flat over the weekend.
