We care about state rights they said...

I can't help but wonder... shouldn't you move to California.

Now you can do what many do here and only "live" here for 5 months and 29 days... but still vote for more state income taxes on those making 6 figures.
California is a wonderful, and beautiful State. I wouldn't want to tell Californians how they should run their State, but I would appreciate it if they would tell we Mississippians how to run ours. You Californians are doing much better than we.

Have you read Dana's "Two Years before the Mast," ? (Harvard Classics) -- a wonderful 19th Century account of Santa Barbara is included in Dana's tale of sailing from Boston around Cape Horn to Santa Barbara with manufactured goods and back to Boston with a load of Hides.
In Dana's book, there are beautiful descriptions of the California coast long ago.

Everybody on this planet knows Trump has his issues. However, looking at the total package, Trump is most suited to delivering what we need right now: A rebalancing of America’s priorities while removing ourselves from long term wars.
What about precedents being set by Trump. Do you want future Presidents to get away with stonewalling Congress? Trump has not removed us from long term wars. Not yet, though there is continuous talk of it in Afghanistan. Trump has increased military spending does that sound like a government standing down from war? Trump abandoned our allies in both Northern Syria, at Erdogan's urging, and in Ukraine when they were under attack, in an effort to extort political help from the Ukraine President . Trump's Syria action came after Erdogan had threatened to see that his name was removed from the Trump Tower in Istanbul? Is that the kind of military leadership you are proud of?
Both investigations into Trump were flawed in many ways because they denied basic rules of evidence, search and seizure laws, and Constitutionally guaranteed rights, were politically based, and the charges levied seem to have involved conduct that has been regularly seen in other administrations
This is according to Trump but not according to the Inspector General. In the Case of the Impeachment hearings, Trump blocked all attempts to have administration persons testify. He could have himself testified. The hearings were bi-partisan. Extortion of a foreign government for political favors has never been charged against a president in any previous administration. This is a grave charge of the most serious kind. The only people that have gone to jail so far or are currently in jail, or on their way to jail are all people from the Trump political campaign or Trump administration. Does this sound like an honest administration to you. Is this the kind of administration whose word you should trust. None of those agency directors, Comey, McCabe, etc etc. that Trump fired after they refused to do improper things that Trump asked them to do have been indicted, nor will any of them be. There is insufficient evidence to convene a grand jury.
Speaking of having a clear mind, what is your opinion of Christina Blasey Ford’s conduct, Justin Smollett’s conduct, ANTIFA’s conduct, Strock and Page’s conduct, Michael Avenatti’s conduct, to name a few? As you’ll recall, most of the media and Leftist posters on this site have supported them and have yet to renounce their support of these people. How about you?
I can't be certain that Ford told the Truth. She sounded credible to me and I found her testimony not inconsistent with the documented record and witnesses. What abundantly clear now to me is that Kavanaugh committed perjury in is confirmation hearing. That is the only available conclusion to me after reading: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...ation-hearing-deborah-ramirez-new-allegations

I don't know anything about Smollett and not inclined to look him up. perhaps later. Did not follow close the Antifa business, not qualified to comment. Strock and Page -- Inspector General found no evidence that the political biases in any way affected their work. [We can not make political tests a condition for hiring in the Federal government, that would be disastrous.] Were they using an FBI server to email each other? People wanted McCabe I think it was to step down because his wife was a contributor to the Democratic party - or some such thing -- that's absolutely absurd!!! Just think for one moment where that kind of hairball thinking leads and you'll realize how crazy it is. Avenatti has got himself into a lot of legal trouble. It will be interesting to see what the outcome is. But this has absolutely nothing to do with the illegal campaign contribution charge against Cohen with Trump named as a co-conspirator. (Cohen was acting at trumps direction, a recorded phone conversation has confirmed that.) The only thing keeping Trump out of the bunk next to Cohen's is that Nixon era DOJ staff opinion.
What is your opinion of a criminal case where there is no conviction on the underlying charges, but there are convictions for obstruction of justice and perjury? How about when a substantial number of cases turn out this way? Anyone being exposed to hours or days of cross examination, being asked basically the same questions but in slightly different ways, will inevitably give answers that appear to be inconsistent, hence convictions for obstruction and it’s often related cousin, perjury. This is also known as a partisan witch hunt. Well?
Can't comment unless
you can give me a specific example. Maybe not even then. I have to have some detailed information before I am willing to wade into such issues.

You see Bernie, the likely Democrat nominee as upholding the United States Constitution? Really? Do you also believe the Socialists who have been lusting for political power in the United States for over a century, have spent untold amounts of money (Sometimes even their own) and manpower are going to simply allow themselves be voted out of power when the electorate becomes inevitably disappointed with Socialist policies? Crack open a history book, please. I have, and you can sure bet many others will be referring to history and current Socialist practices to bring down Bernie and his cabal of Socialists.
Your impugning Sanders by suggesting he would act like trump in a lawless manner, defying subpoenas etc. Sander's is an upstanding American Citizen who believes in the rule of law. He's fine by me but I hope the Democrats will select someone else a little younger. Actually I like Bill Weld a great deal, but of course he has no chance and I can't waste a vote on him. Sanders is well educated in Constitutional law, unlike Trump, and was a political science major at the University of Chicago. He will be very familiar with the Constitution and will uphold it. Your suggestion that he might not suggests to me that you may be listening to news sources such as infowars or talk radio. These are worthless if you are interested in facts and truth. The "lusting for power" bit sounds infowarish or limbaughish to me. So you think the VA is a good idea? 100% Socialist. Would you like to get a Social Security Check someday? 100% Socialist. Are you a proud of the U.S. Military? 100% Socialist! Do you like Wal-Mart's workers being subsidized with food stamps? Corporate Welfare! Do you like unemployment compensation? Socialist?

All modern economies, even Sweden, and even the USA are mixed economies with capitalism mixed with socialism (even China!).. Bernard will have a Congress to keep him in check. Don't worry we'll be fine if he should become President. He is apt to be very demand stimulus orientated. That would be great for the economy. But instead of weapons we'd be building infrastructure. Cutting class sizes in grade school and hiring a million more teachers. He'd be a job creator, but different kinds of jobs than Trump. We'd survive it just fine!

There are some entrepreneurs who are either a hidden part of the Socialist leadership or were offered special consideration by the Socialists should they gain the Presidency. These individuals are enemies of the principles the United States was founded upon.

Socialism may appear to be benefit the bottom of society at the cost of the more productive members of society, but that would only be in the short term, if at all. After all, any system that rewards failure and punishes productivity will see the standard of living drop for all. For reference, compare the standard of living of those who are considered in poverty in the United States and much of the world, including Russia and China.

A lower standard of living and quality of life for all may make us more equal, but that is not the type of equality I suspect most Americans are bargaining for.

This doesn't sound like a sensible person such as yourself. It sounds a bit Ayn Randish or like it came from some 1950s U.S. political tract. It certainly doesn't represent anything we might recognize to day. Sanders is what called a democratic socialist that's very very different from totalitarian socialism. As a matter of fact there are a number of countries that have a slightly greater to much greater proportion of socialism in there mixed economies than the U.S Does and by nearly all measure are doing as well or better than we are.

Here are two wonderful reads I can suggest to you assuming you haven't read them yet. Moynihan's "Secrecy" just skip the long intro by Powers, and Zinn's "A Peoples History of the United States" (lots about social movements in the U.S. ) Both are essential reading for every American. Did you know Columbus Scalped the Arawak Indians? Did you know Washington ordered deserters from the Continental Army to be shot by their best friends? Yup.

I’ll address each one of your points in detail when I have more time available, but here is a quick summary:

1. Many of Trump’s actions were based on the fact Democrats do not respect rule of law.

2. Speaking of rule of law, I will tie in Russia, Socialist Jews, and Bernie Sanders and their records concerning rule of law.

3. As far as “successful” examples of Socialism, the countries you stated have a significant Capitalistic influence. This begs an agreed upon definition of Socialism. I will try to come up with one and submit it for you review and agreement.

4. There are glaring examples of Socialism failure throughout history. I will list the countries, which includes the multiple collapses of Russia, and I will predict when and under what circumstances Russia will collapse again if effective reforms are not made.

5. Think about it: What has Sanders ever actually accomplished? Other than enriching himself and now owning 4 houses, that is? Sanders only offers promises that even the most naive among use should realize they cannot be delivered on.

Again, when I have more time, I will support by statements using citations from respected sources throughout history. Remember, the Right has held back on Sanders because they want him as an opponent. If this strategy backfires and Sanders wins, everybody else loses, even if many don’t realize this for years.

In the final analysis, the will of the people is the most important thing. If the will of the people is to hand power over to a system that has historically denied people’s rights, then so be it. It is said that hardship builds character. Well, we will see where we stand as far as character goes in November.

Edit: I will also critique the Capitalist system and discuss needed reforms.

Nope
but I have been to Dana Point.

I feel like perhaps I saw similar beauty on trips to Baha and Costa rica in the late 80s and early 90s. I was in Costa Rica before it became the rage for developers. some of the beaches were pristine. I was not the first to be there... but plenty of the beaches back then were undeveloped. And it was more than enough to make you dream about not having a job and just traveling and living on a low budget.

who could've ever predicted that?
The federal government may be in their right to end these waivers. That's not in dispute. The problem here is Trump did it because he's a petty asshole that did not like California undermining him on the deals the state made with auto makers after he struck down Obama's mpg rules. What ballwashers fail to realize, is that no car maker is going to conduct business on Trump's whims as he's out in 2020, and the waivers will more than likely be re-instated.

Basically, the guy's ego is so brittle that it's back to him hating Obama.

As a result, the antitrust division launched 10 reviews of mergers in the marijuana industry, according to Elias’s prepared remarks, and was ordered to probe a deal between major U.S. automakers and the state of California after Trump tweeted about it disparagingly. Months later, when the matter seemed near a close, political leaders ordered a subsequent investigation after California announced it would purchase vehicles only from automakers that complied with fuel efficiency standards, Elias’s prepared testimony says.
