War!

I wonder why Trump believes our intelligence community on Iran & China matters but not Kashoggi/SA matters, N. Korea, Russia, or Ukraine matters. That's sarcasm btw

Trump says Iran will be held ‘fully responsible’ for attack on the US embassy in Iraq

  • “Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible,” President Trump wrote on Twitter.
  • His tweet came after dozens of angry Iraqi Shiite militia supporters stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad shouting “Down, Down, USA!”
  • The Iraqi protest followed deadly U.S. airstrikes that killed 25 fighters of the Iran-backed militia in Iraq, carried out in retaliation for the killing of an American contractor.

Trump’s tweet came after dozens of angry Iraqi Shiite militia supporters stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad and set fire to a reception area on the grounds earlier in the day.

The Iraqi supporters, many dressed in military apparel, pushed into the compound using cars to break through its gate. The protesters hung a poster on the wall saying, “America is an aggressor.”

Though the mob stopped short of entering the main building of the compound, many shouted “Down, Down, USA!” and flung water and rocks over the embassy walls. About 30 Iraqi soldiers in armored vehicles arrived near the embassy hours after the violence, according to an Associated Press report.

The attack followed deadly U.S. airstrikes on Sunday that killed 25 fighters of the Iran-backed militia in Iraq, carried out in retaliation for last week’s killing of an American contractor in a rocket attack on an Iraqi military base that American officials blamed on the militia.

Let this serve as a WARNING that if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!

Balls in their court, but I doubt they can keep from poking the Eagle.

Thankfully we have a leader who knows more than the generals, has kept the best people employed for the job around, and will totally not escalate to territorial attacks once the Iranians retaliate.

The irony- if that's the right word- of some of this is that is that recent events the two people in Iran most responsible for planning and executing retaliations against the U.S were the very two or more people killed in the missile strike. ie. Somelemania and the head of the Iranian backed militias in Iraq- whatever his name is, no doubt it has a "Mohammed" or two in it.

I am definitely not up for any ground wars or nation building- but I am also definitely not up for the Mexican model either. What I am referring to is that scenario a couple months ago where El Chappos son (who has a murder and other warrants out for him) was filmed standing right in front of the Mexican military and police but they let him go because they did not want to escalate or have any reprisals. That ain't the way to protect your country either, and the long term trajectory that comes from looking the other way is not good.

Pretty pathetic listening to the lefty media. They are howling on about the fact that the U.S has known for decades that Solemonie was the mastermind for half the shit or more going on in the mideast but that there had always been an unspoken agreement that he was too big to hit, so he even traveled unhindered to Europe and sometimes his plane would even pull right up next to planes with American generals on it. So, they are asking, "what suddenly changed that Donald Trump decided to do this?" Pitiful. Pitiful. Pitiful. Not the right question. Think that through.

I don't know that any of us here are informed enough to put forth anything but our own individual opinions on matters such as these. I mean maybe some, I'm certainly not. And anyone that thinks they are based on what they're getting from what they read in the press or hear on TV, well, you can't change stupid. (Thats not directed at you Tree, or anyone for that matter. We all have opinions based on what we take in... its the ability to realize 'our opinion might not be right'... that's where the line between stupid and not so much is drawn.)

That said, perhaps there's always been an argument made that things would be safer with him alive and monitored, than dead and martyred. Who knows. We can use history and ask ourselves what would the Middle East look like if Saddam was still alive. Who knows. It would certainly be different though, that's for sure.

Certain Presidential actions throughout the course of our history have had what can only be best described as 'generational consequences'. Is this one of those times? Perhaps. One thing's for sure... we're living history everyday.

The vast majority of Americans were heavily behind invading Iraq just before it happened. It was a colossal blunder that cost a lot of people their lives and took a sizable chunk of cash out of every American's pocket. It was also immoral based mostly on false narratives and slogans that the American people and the press ate up.

Almost every single American action concerning Iran in recent years has the same smell to it. Iran in actual fact was far more of a threat decades ago and had been agreeable to the deal the world threw at them in recent years. Until that imbecile Trump ripped the deal up. Now he's escalating it all trying to provoke a war ( not sure if he even understands the results of his actions ).

There is nothing rational or justified in America's dealings in Iran/Iraq in recent years. It's up to Americans to own the actions their government takes personally and ask themselves is this how you want to carry yourself as human beings on this planet.

The only real role you play on this site is a cautionary tale about the dangers of under educating significant portions of your population. The mythical "lefty media" is just another symptom you can't think for yourself and believe in a lot of shit.

I'm sure the most transparent administration in history will present clear evidence and elucidate Soleimani's actionable plans that made him a palpable & imminent danger to Americans in the region.
