Just received a mail from CME Group:

"October 28, 2012

To Our Valued Customers,

As a result of the securities industry decision to close US equities markets tomorrow because of Hurricane Sandy, CME Group will be closing its US equity futures and equity options on futures markets on the trading floor and on CME Globex at 8:15 am, CT, tomorrow Monday, Oct. 29. These markets opened at 5:00 p.m. CT today and will remain open until 8:15 a.m. CT tomorrow.

All other CME Group futures and options on futures markets will remain open. We will continue to monitor the situation as well as continue our coordination with other exchanges and will keep you updated as information becomes available.

CME Group"

markets will be closed not only physically but also electronically too and tomorrow might well be the same thing. that's why cme is halting futures trading.

all this for a hurricane "sandy"... If my shit gets f*cked up because of a storm named sandy, i'll be pissed.

I would have taken this whole ordeal a bit better, and more serious, if the storm was named something cooler, like Hurricane Chuck Norris... or something like this.

no, but if Obama hadn't saved the auto industry that Bush let deteriorate, people in New York couldn't even escape this horrible tragedy.

I just hope they can get out Tuesday and vote their conscience.

I don't think anybody wants to go back to the old years of Katrina.

Seriously dude, get a grip on some things. You are afraid to trade forex or something else because of your divorce? Get the **** over yourself you stupid panzie. Nobody cares about your divorce. You are unemployed, not a trader. If you want to be a trader, then become one, not a loser.

BTW so longs as I'm alive, I will be voting to make sure some of my big savings DOES NOT land in your pocket to pay for internet and repair on your 2001 Gateway PC. I hope this is helpful to yourself.

lol naturally.

the surge is already bad around here, but tonights high tide will be worse. It didn't even hit yet or merge with the other storm

So all it takes is a localized storm to shut the biggest equity exchanges in the world? Pathetic.
I would have thought they would have had invested at least in some underground server locations that could easily handle this, obviously not.

you didn't seem to be very concerned when all of Indiana was hit by a very bad ice storm (which it often is) and I was sitting there for three days with no electricity and nothing but a wood stove.

sorry to laugh, but for the rest of us who are routinely hit, this is just kind of a spectator sport.

We always knew you people in NYC were crazy (why else would you live all crowded up like rats) but now we get to see just how crazy you actually are.

One one hand I hope it is not too bad for you, because I am a decent human being, but on the other hand, I kind of hope it is, because it is very boring out here and we like good entertainment.

Thanks for making the weather channel watchable again.

You should watch it sometime when our corn is getting decimated by a drought.

Were you born this way or did it take years of practice?

Me too, but trading would be acting slowly any ways because people just take the day off.
