Wall Street closed

So all it takes is a localized storm to shut the biggest equity exchanges in the world? Pathetic.
I would have thought they would have had invested at least in some underground server locations that could easily handle this, obviously not.
power outages is the worry

starting to hit now, you can't even come into my town, only leave.

storm surge is gonna be insane, it's crazy already. full moon tonight doesn't help,

high tide at around 9pm, at the time it will be in full effect.

anyone in Jersey and NY south shore... time to party.

I recall reading the exchange servers had backup generators. AFAIK industrial grade generators can supply power for at least 24 hours. There are also various alternative ways how to supply the data. I just hope the exchange people are looking at this as a problem to solve and not just accepting the situation as is, when it's bound to happen in the future.

Low volume doesn't stop trading, opportunities are still there. It only affects northeastern US though. Trading should become more decentralized, I find it odd that in this day and age it still has such a big effect.

Some futures products are still trading, CL, 6E and 6A. Money never sleeps. :D

wtf wants to trade equities in a vacuum? The volume will be a joke even if they manage to open tomorrow.
