vitamins mineral and foods good for trading

Quote from bellman:

try either boiling or poaching your meats. that is the healthiest option. It is charred meats that are chocked full of carcinogens.

FEAR NOT. the proteins in your chicken or beef will not be reversetranscribed no matter what method of cooking you employ. microwaving meats will not mutate the protein... it will however denature many of the proteins. notice the layer of gelatin?

If I could just figure out how to not torch the burgers, ect., on the
ol' barbecue that would make me happy. I don't think the neighbors
will go for poached or boiled on the 4th of July... :p

Good to hear that meat isn't "Frankesteined" by the micro. I hope
the gelatin you are talking about isn't what they put in Jello. Doesn't
sound like it would be good for the kids...:D

Study Finds Low-Fat Diet Won't Stop Cancer or Heart Disease
By GINA KOLATA
The largest study ever to ask whether a low-fat diet keeps women from getting cancer or heart disease has found that the diet had no effect.

The $415 million federal study involved nearly 49,000 women aged 50 to 79 who were followed for eight years. In the end, those assigned to a low-fat diet had the same rates of breast cancer, colon cancer heart attack and stroke as those who ate whatever they pleased, researchers are reporting today.

"These are three totally negative studies," said Dr. David Freedman, a statistician at the University of California at Berkeley, who is not connected with the study but has written books on clinical trial design and analysis. And, he said, the results should be taken seriously for what they are — a rigorous attempt that failed to confirm a popular hypothesis that a low-fat diet can prevent three major diseases in women.

And the studies were so large and so expensive that they are "the Rolls Royce of studies," said Dr. Michael Thun, who directs epidemiological research for the American Cancer Society. As such, he said, they are likely to be the final word.

I don't think it's good for our immune system to live in a sterile environment. I believe that for the immune system, "what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger".

Look at the North American Natives, they were never exposed to the common cold until the white men came over. Then a lot of them died from it.

There's a theory that allergies are becoming more common now because we're not exposed to enough disease anymore:

Quote from bellman:

I pasteurize all my foods by COOKING them. It's amazing what heating food in the microwave can do! I don't eat any raw salads, especially when I go to a restaurant. I try to kill all the microbes before I eat my food. Most nutrients are heat labile, but it's worth the trade off to always, always pasteurize.

This is easier on my immune system. The less you tax your immune system, the healthier you will be long-term. Health problems directly related to the innate immunological response of humans include allergies, cancer, diabetes, anything inflammatory related--arthritis, heart-disease, Alzheimer’s, circulatory diseases, etc. etc. Long story short, I don't want any extra inflammatory cytokines and chemokines circulating in my blood stream.

you are right. when i look around here in America, most of the average adult could stand to lose some weight... but i think everyone knows that already. that's why jared from subway is a million-aire. (sux that guy is rich and i'm still poor)

it is not, however, general public health knowledge that taking it easy on your immune system is just if not more important than maintaining a healthy weight. that said, i don't really care how all you other traders eat. go to mcdonald's every day and have their salads for all i care.

Recent Studies about Pets and Allergies
While this studies may reassure people who have pets that they can keep them as they are having children, more testing will likely need to be done before doctors can make a general recommendation that people should buy pets to prevent their children from developing allergies. The main problem is researches don't yet know why having a pet protects your child from developing allergies. Is it the pets themselves, or something that people with pets do? Is it because children that grow up with pets live in less sterile enviornments? Early exposure to other things, such as egg whites and peanuts, are still thought to increase the risk of allergies, so it isn't clear why the same risk isn't there for pets.

"WOW!!! So you are saying that you cannot get the nutrients you need UNLESS you take supplements???

How did the human race survive for tens of thousands of years before supplements were available?"

They survived because they did not have to eat genetically modified, chemically treated, hormone injected crap that is called food

But how long did they survive for? I don't think they lived very long did they?

Twenty to Thirty years max?

Maybe genetically modified, chemically treated, hormone injected
crap is actually doing us some good!...:D

And lets not forget the dead singed animal carcasses we eat...

That just has to be healthy for us...

Wheatgrass? Mmm

Heard that it contains everything needed. One can survive on it. I don´t know if it´s true.

But then we must make juice of it. There are special Wheatgrass juicers
