No beer drinking where I am now (liquor ban). Article is entirely correct, they are using the situation to solidify their power. Never mind all the power hungry authoritarians in the police force and military. I won't go into detail for obvious reasons.
Yes, the fact it started in China which appeared to have dealt with it rather efficiently while stomping on human rights and the WHO is spouting off Chinese propaganda to all countries willing to listen, it opened the door to all sorts of government sponsored freedom stomping.

Philippines, except if D08 has moved recently, he hasn t been secretive about this. If freedoms there are getting close to China level, indeed it makes sense not to dwell on current politics

Maybe 2 million infected in New York and 8 million in the rest of the country.
Sadly only 10 million infected sofar, not tens of millions.
I posted that is morning, well before the anti body test results for NYC were released.
My estimate for NYC was pretty close.
As will my estimate for the whole of the US prove to be (10 million already infected).
10 million is actually a bit high, probably closer to 7 million with antibodies in the US at the moment if you use the NYC data to extrapolate.
But i was giving a ballpark estimate. Not trying to estimate down to the nearest million.

Here's one.
21k deaths in new York state / 2.7 million positive case rate
== 0.8% death rate.
Bad flu season is 1% death rate.
Flu has 0.1% death rate. If NY data suggest 0.8% for this. So 8 times worse death rate than flu.
But the infection rate is also higher than flu, if no social distancing is used.
This makes CV a 25x to 50x times greater killer than regular Flu, if nothing is done to stop it spreading.
